At times we misuse this gift and use our words to cause harm. Shape us instead by your word. By your word, your creation sprang forth, and we were given the breath of life. By your word, death is overcome, Jesus is raised from the tomb, and we are given new life in the power of your Spirit. May we boldly proclaim this good news in our words and our deeds, rejoicing always in your powerful presence; through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord. Amen. Prayer of the Day Lord God, when we are assaulted by the troubles of life, and the deep waters of anger and resentment threaten to overwhelm us, do not let us sink. In your great compassion, hear us, help us and heal us. Move us to not only be hearers of your word, but doers who more fully follow you; through the one who has shown us both steadfast faithfulness and forgiving love, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
