Within this episode, we dive into the critical challenges facing waste management today. We explore the pressing issue of unsustainable practices that contribute to environmental degradation and the lack of accessibility that leads to illegal dumping in our communities. Additionally, we discuss how overburdened waste facilities struggle to keep up with the increasing volume of waste due to rampant over-consumption. With the insight of our special guest, we explore lived experiences around waste management in the Pacific Islands. After moving to the U.S., the process of actively learning how to sort and dispose of waste became a transformative experience—reshaping daily habits and perspectives on environmental responsibility and the importance of land stewardship.
