The Advent movement’s worldwide revival

Began in the early 19th century

They studied the bible, longing for reform

And expected Jesus’ soon return

God’s word was a lamp unto their feet

It was a light unto their path

Then out of darkness came present truth

So they took this light to warn the world

They took this light to warn the world

They studied the prophecies in the old and new

And concluded the earth will be cleansed by fire

But the mystery in Daniel was hid from their eyes

Jesus’ second coming didn’t materialize

Some candles dimmed and returned to darkness

Others trimmed theirs and kept them bright
