This week Jane tells us about the serial killer known as “The Torso Killer” or “Times Square Ripper.” His real name was Richard Cottingham and he committed several murders in New York and New Jersey. He was caught in 1980 but denied responsibility until 2009. In the early 2000s he started being interviewed by an investigator who was able to link him to at least 14 other cold case murders dating back to the 1960s. Deklan tells us about two brothers who dug up some strange carved artifacts in their backyard. Two strange looking stone heads were discovered by the Robson brothers and brought into their home. Strange things started happening to the family and their neighbors. The heads were given to various scientists for research purposes and they started reporting strange things too. This week Deklan tells us about Walter Jackson Freeman II, a physician who was inspired by another doctor who performed a breakthrough procedure known as a leucotomy. A surgical procedure that removed part of the frontal lobe. Freeman decided he would modify the procedure so that it was no longer surgical and he created the extremely brutal prefrontal lobotomy which was used for decades to “treat” numerous types of neurological and psychological disorders. Jane tells us a family in 1977 in Enfield England, a London suburb, who called the police when they heard strange noises in their house. The Hodgson family reported many supernatural experiences which were investigated by paranormal researchers, demonologists, and journalists. The Enfield poltergeist inspired the movie The Conjuring 2. We also drink the Holy Water cocktail. This week Jane tells us about a young woman in love, Jennifer Pan. Her strict parents controlled most aspects of her life but denying her true love was the straw that broke her back. She arranged for her parents to be murdered but only her mother was killed in a fake home invasion. Deklan tells us about an interesting school experiment that teacher Ron Jones created to help teach his students about Nazi Germany. This week Jane tells us about a serial killer from Missouri in the 1980s, Robert Berdella. He was inspired by a movie he watched as a teenager. He held his victims captive, tortured them and kept detailed notes about it. His final victim escaped and led to Berdella’s arrest. Deklan tells us about real life zombies not the dramatic TV and film versions. Somehow the real ones seem scarier! He tells us about how a culture has created them and utilizes them. He said his name was Mel Waters and he reported he had a deep wild hole on his property in Washington state. His stories seemed out of this world. But who was he and where is the hole?
