Thing has been acting temperamental lately and gets insulted by the slightest little comment. He pouts and then disappears. The family believes he's been "thing-napped." Gomez pretends he's a detective and quickly interviews the family, but gets nowhere. The family receives a ransom note for Thing and they hire detective Sam Diamond (Tommy Farrell) to follow the instructions. After making contact with Thing, the frightened detective comes back and returns his fee. Thing returns and lets the family know that he was feeling neglected and wanted to see if the family cared enough about him to pay the ransom.
