Kung-Fu Master! (1988): When Criterion Restored A Paedo Movie

TRIGGER WARNING: This movie and subsequently our conversation about it, touches upon themes that some people may find extremely disturbing. This is a difficult episode that, truth be told, we might have been better scrapping all together. Kung-Fu Master! is the only videogame movie so far to be deemed worthy of special release by The Criterion Collection, though upon watching it we discovered that it's ties to said videogame are very minimal. Instead this French movie explores the burgeoning romantic relationship between an adult mother and a teenage boy who is friends with her daughter. It's a difficult film to watch and one we found it particularly difficult to talk about. Please be aware that the subject matter may be disturbing for some people. Gran Turismo (2023): From Gamer To Pro Racer

Loosely based on a true story; Gran Turismo tells the story of an outside-the-box marketing expert, a washed up race car driver and a teenager from the UK with big dreams who come together to try and pull off the ultimate brand cross over. To turn an adept player of Sony's Gran Turismo game (sorry, I mean "driving simulator") in a real life race car driver. It's being decried as one of the worst movies of all time, reviving the long established "videogame movie curse" and some have even said it feels like an Uwe Boll film. So the question becomes; is Borderlands really as bad as everybody says it is? Joined by special guests, Jamie and Rory take a look at this hot new release to decide if the negative reaction is undeserved or if Borderlands really deserves to be consigned to the trash heap.
