New Year, New Me - Or Should It Be?

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Welcome to episode 19 of The Conn'Cast Podcast! So it's 2025, and with that comes all the "new year, new me!" brigade! And while that can be a good thing with people trying to improve themselves, it can also be quite a daunting subject for a lot of people purely trying to get by each day. In this episode, I (Finn) dig a bit deeper into this subject, and discuss why embracing the same you in the new year can actually be just as powerful as trying to reinvent yourself! It's not always about trying to radically change yourself, but perhaps adding small incremental changes into your life that benefits your mental health and allows you to grow into the person that you want to become. If you enjoyed this episode, why not give us a rating on Spotify/Apple Podcasts? This will help us reach a wider audience and perhaps someone that needs to hear this podcast. Or else, share on socials and like and subscribe if you're watching this on YouTube! I hope everyone has a fantastic week, and an even better 2025. 💚

The Conn'Cast Festive Special 2024

WELCOME everyone to The Conn'Cast Festive Special 2024! This is an episode I, along with everyone else involved, have been SO looking forward to sharing with you guys! In this festive episode, I am joined by both cohost Cameron Ralph, and past guest Steph Millen, as we have an honest and open chat about 2024 in review - reflecting on the year and how we have managed/coped with our mental health, and we then also speak about the festive period and what this means to us, coupled with mental health. I think if there is any takeaway to sum up this whole video; be kind. You really don't know what someone may be going through, regardless of how well you know them, so it really is important to be kind and considerate always, and especially during the festive period. Where this time is traditionally a joyful period for most, it can also be a period of pain, loss, or extreme loneliness and anxiety for many. So please be kind, reach out to your loved ones and let them know you love them. 💚 Also, a HUGE thank you to The Paper Mill Micropub for giving us this space to record the episode! It is so appreciated, it was absolutely perfect for what we needed! And a massive shoutout to @room27ipd for recording both the audio and video on the day, and Cameron for editing the video! Without you, this episode simply wouldn't have been possible. I hope everyone has a lovely festive period, and I'll see you again for the last episode of the year on Sunday. 💚

Finn & Cam 💚

HELLO people, welcome to another episode of The Conn'Cast! This is a different style of podcast from what we usually do - I am joined this time by cohost Cameron Ralph, as we have a genuine and honest conversation about our 2024 in review, how our mental health has been throughout the year, and just really a chat between two friends! We also speak about the festive period and what this means to both of us (only 3 days until Christmas now!!!) and we hope you enjoy what we had to say about all of the above! Merry Christmas everyone - we'll see you again for the Xmas Special on Boxing Day at 9am! I hope everyone has a lovely festive period. 🫶💚

Luke 💚

Hello all of you lovely people, I hope you’ve had an amazing weekend! 💚 In this episode, I am joined by Luke, who discusses his mental health in a lot of detail - everything from experiencing self doubt in his earlier years, to ways of dealing with grief, and then also discussing alcoholism more recently! Luke has a HUGE passion for fitness, as evidenced throughout his life with weightlifting competitions and his training as a PT, which is what he currently is! However, he has just started his own PT business called Invicta Strength, which I'll be plugging below in case any of you are in need of a PT - Luke is the ONE! Myself (through our page Take The Conn) and Luke will be partnering up in the near future with various ideas and events for mental health, so definitely watch this space! 👀 Thank you so much Luke for coming on. It was so inspiring hearing your story, and I am so proud of seeing you where you are today after hearing your experiences! Also, APOLOGIES! THE CLOSE UP CAMERA DIED WITH 20 MINS TO GO! But what’s the greater tragedy, the camera dying or how badly I’ve decorated the Christmas tree 🤭 I hope all of you lovely people have a MERRY week ahead! 🤭🎅🏻🎄💚 Invicta Strength: https://www.instagram.com/invicta_strength98?igsh=dHNxM2JxajJ0dmwy App: https://s2jch.app.link/?deeplink=invite%2F16551abb-a7d1-4033-8ca1-fc5f05f5e622%2F09cb7270-6578-498f-a95d-2da9fa536373&businessId=16551abb-a7d1-4033-8ca1-fc5f05f5e622

Steph 💚

Hello all of you lovely people, it is Sunday! Which means ANOTHER episode of The Conn'Cast! In this episode, we are joined by Steph Millen, who discusses various topics surrounding her mental health throughout her life, for the most part discussing her grieving process after losing her sister in January 2018, and how this has affected her ever since. We also discuss topics such as phobias (which is a first for this podcast!) and other themes surrounding mental health. Steph also discusses some coping mechanisms that helps her deal and manage her mental health, namely a coping mechanism that may help you deal with panic attacks - so stick around to hear what Steph has to say! Thank you SO much Steph for coming on, it was lovely to have a proper chat with you, and thank you for being so brave and vulnerable when discussing your mental health! I'm sure this episode will help someone out there that needs to hear this. 💚 A massive thank you to @cameronjackralph for editing the video, much appreciated :) I hope everyone has a merry week! 🤭🎅🏻💚 (just 17 days to go!!!)

Ellie 💚

Hey guys - welcome to another episode of The Conn'Cast Podcast, and the first one in this new studio thanks to my good friend Jack! And... it's December now which means it is ALMOST CHRISTMAS!!! 🎅🏻🎄 In this episode, I am joined with an old school friend, Ellie Knowles, as we discuss her mental health throughout her life, initially with ADHD/autism, and we then discuss drug abuse and how this affected Ellie up until very recently. Thank you so much Ellie for coming onto the show! It was so lovely to have a catchup, and thank you for being so open about your experiences as I appreciate it can't been easy to open up about! I hope everyone has a fabulous week ahead. 💚

Emily 💚

Hello you lovely people, welcome to another episode of The Conn'Cast! In this episode, myself and Cam are joined with our good friend Emily, who discusses her experiences working in the creative industry as a dancer. We also delve into how her mental health has been affected whilst working in this industry and in her life in general! Thank you SO much for coming onto the show Emily, it was so nice to have a proper catchup in what felt like years! We'll have to not leave it as long again! 💚 A huge thanks to @room27ipd for shooting the video and helping with audio as ever, it is hugely appreciated! And a massive thanks to @cameronjackralph as always for helping edit :) I hope everyone has an amazing week ahead! 💚

Gabe 💚

Hey guys, welcome to ANOTHER episode of The Conn’Cast Podcast! In this episode, Gabe discusses some very important topics to do with mental health, namely men’s mental health - especially with breakups and how this has affected him personally. Gabe then also discusses his experiences in the film industry along with several stories, which was a really great insight into the industry! Thank you so much Gabe for being our guest, you were a pleasure to have on the show and we’ll have to have you on again further down the line for another chat! A massive thank you to @room27ipd for filming/shooting the whole podcast, and giving us a space to record too! Could this be the penultimate one in this studio though… 👀 I hope everyone has a stupendous week! 💚

Nick 💚 (Part 2)

Trigger warning: this episode mentions themes surrounding suicide and grief, which some viewers may find distressing. Please watch/listen with care. Hi guys, welcome to another episode of The Conn'Cast Podcast! In this episode, me and Nick continue our conversation off the back of part 1, where we continue to discuss mental health in general, along with Nick's own stories throughout his life. This is the last part of our conversation, and we will be back with a new guest next Sunday! But once again Nick, thank you for offering to come on - it was such a lovely catchup and I really enjoyed our discussion. Once again, a HUGE thank you to @room27ipd for shooting the footage, helping to record the audio and giving us a place to record! It is really appreciated. I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC week, and stay tuned for next Sunday. 💚

Nick 💚 (Part 1)

Trigger warning: this episode mentions themes surrounding suicide and grief, which some viewers may find distressing. Please watch/listen with care. Hi guys, welcome back to another episode of The Conn'Cast Podcast! Apologies this one is a bit late - but I promise you it is all worth the wait... 😉 In this episode, I am joined with Nick Millen, a life long friend and a very close friend of my brother Connor - who this podcast was set up in memory of! For the best part of four hours, myself and Nick ended up discussing mental health in quite a lot of detail, from losing my brother Connor to suicide in 2019, and our own experiences with that - to Nick’s own experiences from losing his sister in January 2018, how this has affected himself and his family ever since, and how he is continuing to deal with the grief from this event. I cannot thank you enough for coming onto the show Nick, it was so lovely to have a proper catchup. From a personal perspective, I found a bit of comfort in discussing suicide and losing a sibling from someone that understands how such a loss feels - as much as I wish we never had to in the first place. Our chat really helped me, and I hope it can help other people listening! As we were chatting for quite a long time, this chat has been split into two parts - part 2 with Nick will release on Sunday at 7pm, so please stay tuned for that one! Once again, a HUGE thank you to @room27ipd for shooting the footage, helping to record the audio and giving us a place to record! It is really appreciated. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week, and see you all on Sunday. 💚
