NEWS Rancho Cordova police identified the suspect in Tuesday’s fatal shooting as 58-year-old David Vallerga. Officers found Vallerga and three victims deceased inside a Mill Water Circle home — a 49-year-old woman, a 13-year-old boy, and an 11-year-old girl. Authorities say Vallerga called 911, identified himself as the shooter, and warned of possible booby traps. The investigation is ongoing. CITY WATCH Sacramento County warns that batteries do not belong in curbside trash. Crushed batteries can spark fires in collection trucks and facilities. Many everyday items contain hidden batteries, including toys, vapes, and small electronics. [NEWS] Four people — two adults and two children — were found dead inside a home on the 5400 block of Mill Water Circle in Rancho Cordova. Detectives say it was a murder-suicide. The Coroner is still confirming identities. A standoff in South Sacramento ended with a suspect in custody last night after officers responded to an armed suspect barricaded inside a home on the 4900 block of 71st Street. [NEWS] Police safely resolved a standoff Sunday night in the 9000 block of Almondwillow Way after a 17-year-old allegedly attempted to attack family members with a knife. Crisis negotiators and SWAT responded, and the teen was taken into custody without injuries. He was booked into Juvenile Hall on assault with a deadly weapon charges. Overnight, officers made two additional arrests during traffic incidents. At Fruitridge Road and Carmela Way, police stopped an electric bicycle after a brief pursuit and recovered an illegal firearm. The suspect was arrested. And near Meadowview Road and Amherst Street, officers located a stolen vehicle and arrested the driver. All cases remain under investigation. [CITY WATCH] Sacramento County is reporting success with its Scattered Site Shelter Program, which master leases single-family homes to house people experiencing homelessness. [NEWS] A man was arrested after a DUI pursuit in Antelope. Deputies say 32-year-old Steven Gonzales ran a red light, led officers on a chase, and crashed into a parked car. He had multiple DUI warrants. Three people were arrested in a retail theft operation on Expo Parkway. Police say the suspects stole up to $1,500 in merchandise. All face felony charges. One man is dead after a late-night shooting on Eleanor Avenue. Homicide detectives are investigating. No suspect information released. Three suspects are now in custody in the Fulton & Hurley shooting and robbery, including a 14-year-old accused of firing a gun. A fire engine was hit by gunfire. No firefighters were injured. [NEWS] A man is recovering after a stabbing in the 4900 block of Mack Road Wednesday night. The suspect fled before officers arrived. The victim is expected to survive. Sacramento Police Department is investigating. Earlier this week, a knife-armed suspect was taken into custody in the 600 block of Santiago Avenue after setting a trailer on fire. No injuries reported. Police arrested a suspect after recovering a stolen bicycle in the 1600 block of Broadway. Federal Fraud Case: A Sacramento man pleaded guilty to wire fraud after defrauding an investor of more than $777,000. Prosecutors say 57-year-old Jaswant Singh Gill ran a fake investment firm, spent the money on personal expenses, and now faces up to 20 years in prison.
