[NEWS] Two people are dead after a shooting near Evergreen Street and Calvados Avenue. Police say the female victim died at the scene; the male later died at the hospital. Investigators believe the male’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted. No outstanding suspects. Investigation continues. A serial copper theft suspect is in custody following an overnight operation near light rail tracks. Deputies with Sacramento Regional Transit arrested 51-year-old Jesse Jeremiah. Deputies recovered 18 strands of stolen copper wire and burglary tools. Theft damage is estimated at $73,000. Jeremiah was already on probation, had an active felony warrant, and is being held without bail. Midtown Stabbing Victim expected to recover, suspect detained. [NEWS]Shooting near Evergreen Street and Arden Way: One person is dead and another hospitalized after a shooting Tuesday evening. Police say a suspect was detained by SWAT around 11 p.m. Road closures remained in place for several hours during the investigation, according to the Sacramento Police Department. Perimeter on Unity Point Avenue: Officers established a perimeter in the 2800 block of Unity Point Avenue while searching for a suspect with an outstanding warrant, possibly armed with a knife. SWAT and crisis negotiators were called in. Police have not released an update on the suspect’s status. Wrong-way DUI arrest downtown: Just after 1:30 a.m. near 10th and L Streets, officers spotted a vehicle driving the wrong way. The driver fled briefly, then yielded and was found to be intoxicated. An arrest was made on related charges. [CITY WATCH] Sacramento County Board of Supervisors elected new leadership Tuesday. District 4 Supervisor Rosario Rodriguez named Chair for 2026. [NEWS] Elk Grove homicide update: Elk Grove Police Department says a suspect is now in custody in the November 2, 2025 shooting at Z Town Gastro Pub on Elk Grove Florin Road that left two people dead. Detectives identified the suspect as 43-year-old Roderick Randall, currently held in Texas on federal charges. Randall is expected to be extradited to Sacramento County after the federal case concludes, where he faces two counts of homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Anyone with information is urged to contact Elk Grove police. Rancho Cordova arrest: A woman was arrested after police say she used a fake ID during a traffic stop. Officers reportedly found stolen mail, checks, mailbox keys, and meth. She was booked into the Sacramento County Jail as the investigation continues. [NEWS] Sacramento police made multiple arrests Saturday following a series of incidents across the city. Deadly house fire in Oak Park? Homicide investigation in Arden-Arcade area • Two suspects were arrested in a vacant lot on the 200 block of Wilson Avenue after officers recovered a loaded firearm, burglary tools, and evidence a U-Haul had been tampered with. • An assault involving a knife was reported near Natoma Way and Roanoke Avenue. The victim suffered minor injuries; the suspect was arrested. • A man was arrested in the 700 block of Lampasas Avenue after firing a gun into the air. Officers recovered a firearm with an extended magazine. No injuries reported. • A pursuit near Del Paso Boulevard and Glenrose Avenue ended with a stolen vehicle crash, two arrests, and a loaded extended magazine recovered. One suspect had an outstanding felony warrant. • In South Sacramento, a driver fleeing a traffic stop near 24th Street and 33rd Avenue was arrested with help from an air unit. The suspect had an outstanding felony warrant. • Overnight, a trailer carrying a boat detached and struck a power pole near Florin Road and Serenity Drive. No injuries were reported. [NEWS] Sacramento firefighters are investigating a house fire in Oak Park after an explosion blew part of the roof off a home Wednesday morning. Debris damaged nearby houses, and several smaller blasts led to evacuations. Crews faced extreme heat, downed power lines, and hazardous conditions inside the home. No injuries were reported. In another incident, deputies arrested 43-year-old Wyatt Tripp after an off-road pursuit near West Brannan Island Road Tuesday afternoon. Investigators say Tripp, who was on probation and wanted on felony warrants, fled on foot after crashing. [NEWS] North Sacramento deputies arrested a man following a violent barricade incident Sunday morning on Marconi Avenue. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, investigators say 40-year-old Jesse James Halleib threatened a 77-year-old woman, disconnected her 9-1-1 call while she was speaking with dispatch, and barricaded himself inside the home. A sheriff’s K-9 was deployed, and Halleib was taken into custody without further incident. He is due in court today. The victim was not physically injured. Separately, sheriff’s officials say they have arrested a man accused of stealing copper wire along the light rail system on Christmas Eve. Investigators say 32-year-old Addison Jones was caught cutting copper wire between the Sunrise and Hazel stations, damaging power poles supporting the overhead catenary system. Deputies recovered stolen copper wire and burglary tools. Jones remains in custody on $35,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court January 12. [NEWS] Sacramento County deputies responded to a barricaded suspect on Dixon Oaks Lane in Orangevale following a break-in at his parents’ home. Hazel Avenue was briefly closed between Elm and Central as residents evacuated or sheltered in place. Update: Authorities confirm the suspect was detained without incident. All roadways have reopened, and residents are cleared to return home. Another barricaded suspect incident marked New Year’s Eve in the Arden area. Authorities say 40-year-old Carlos Kelly, assaulted his elderly mother before barricading himself inside a home on the 900 block of Dornajo Way. after several hours he was taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on multiple felony charges.
