Geek Down - Truth Seekers, Finger Guns, & Tremors Shrieker Island

The squad comes through with straight takes and zero cap this round. Tremors: Shrieker Island is the best direct to video sequel this franchise has put out in twenty years, with Michael Gross back as Burt Gummer. Like bruh... WHY?? (to Burt, not Michael. A check is a check, we get it.) Truth Seekers is the quietest, driest, most charming horror comedy of its year, and it got absolutely done dirty by its early cancellation. Finger Guns is the exact kind of small press comic that flies under the radar, a silly high concept that hides shockingly sharp, honest writing about being a messed up teenager. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you liked this episode and want to help us make more in the future, we'd be hella grateful for a small donation via this link https://www.buymeacoffee.com/villainswtf (no pressure of course - we'll be making the best content we can regardless) 🤘 Become a patron too for longer format episodes, bonus shows, and more! https://www.patreon.com/cw/VillainsWTF And all our sister shows @ https://www.villains.wtf

Geek Down - Vampires vs. The Bronx, Impossible Space, Neighbors Back From Hell, Hoops

We break down Vampires vs. The Bronx, which flips horror comedy by centering Bronx kids in a fight keeping the block safe from bloodsuckers. Then the chaos of Hoops, where a foul-mouthed coach makes ALL the bad decisions. The conversation turns petty with Neighbors Back From Hell, a game that makes ruining a neighbor's life a high art form. We cap it off with Impossible Space: A Space Hero, a mobile shooter that packs tight alien-blasting action into every session.

Geek Down - Sonic 2, Human Resources, Fantastic Beasts 3, Thermae Romae Novae

We are kicking things off with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which gets its proper recognition for leveling up the franchise with bigger action, the long-awaited arrival of Tails and Knuckles, and giving Jim Carrey the space to be Jim Carrey. We dive deep into the chaotic, hormonal madness of Human Resources, dissecting how this spin-off doubles down on the crude, unfiltered humor that the Big Mouth universe is famous for. Then we pivot to the absolute fever dream that is Thermae Romae Novae, breaking down why this bizarre journey through Roman bath history and time travel is one of the most unique things streaming right now. We close the session by addressing the elephant in the room with Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, putting on blast the messy storytelling and the undeniable fact that this franchise has completely lost its spark.

Geek Down - TMNT Mutant Mayhem, Blue Beetle, Captain Fall

The crew comes through this week with flowers for some and smoke for others. We start by celebrating TMNT: Mutant Mayhem, a reboot that gets it right with scribbly, street-art animation, a soundtrack full of certified classics, and turtles who actually talk, joke, and panic like real bought eucharist. Then we take out the trash with Netflix's Captain Fall, an animated disaster pure and simple, with flat jokes, lazy writing, and episodes that feel three times longer than they actually are. We end on a high note with Blue Beetle, putting respect on how Jaime Reyes, his loud and lovable family, and that alien scarab tech bring genuine heart, --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you liked this episode and want to help us make more in the future, we'd be hella grateful for a small donation via this link https://www.buymeacoffee.com/villainswtf (no pressure of course - we'll be making the best content we can regardless) 🤘 Become a patron too for longer format episodes, bonus shows, and more! https://www.patreon.com/cw/VillainsWTF And all our sister shows @ https://www.villains.wtf

Geek Down - Uncharted, Patriotika, Tinykin, Fist Full of Vengeance

The squad is cracking open a treasure chest and dragging Tom Holland’s Uncharted into the spotlight. Then Patriotika lands on the table with ALL the unapologetic, larger-than-life heroine energy. It's a lot of dommy-mommy mythology to cram into one comic. We also get microscopic with the Pikmin-inspired Tinykin, proving once and for all whether or not size does matter! Finally, the Wu Assassins crew returns with Fist Full of Vengeance: swan-song to the series, or a sucker punch? We'll get into it --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you liked this episode and want to help us make more in the future, we'd be hella grateful for a small donation via this link https://www.buymeacoffee.com/villainswtf (no pressure of course - we'll be making the best content we can regardless) 🤘 Become a patron too for longer format episodes, bonus shows, and more! https://www.patreon.com/cw/VillainsWTF And all our sister shows @ https://www.villains.wtf

Geek Down - Woman King, Spiderheck, See how They Run, Bee and Puppycat

This week it's weird little adventures returning big feelings. The Woman King stands tall on the big screen, and we speak on the fisticuffs. Bee and Puppycat are celebrating that lo-fi, pastel fever dream as the beautifully lazy chaos ramps up. Then... did someone say burn it to the ground? Spiderheck shows a little love to our 8-legged freaks/friends. And "See How They Run" tries to keep the mystery alive, but we're exposing the real tea on this whodunit.

Geek Down - The Boys Diabolical, Big Gold Brick, The Pirates Last Treasure, Happy's Humble Burger Farm

The conversation is about to get unruly. Big Gold Brick gets put on blast for its weird energy and abject refusal to make sense. We calling out The Boys: Diabolical for taking the animated format and drowning it in bloodshed. We putting respect on the name of The Pirates: Last Treasure for prioritizing fun and spectacle over logic. And we step into the nightmare of Happy's Humble Burger Farm to explain how this game perfectly captures the trauma of service work (give or take some zombies).

Geek Down - Ms. Marvel, Stranger Things Summer Special

We’re deep-diving into Ms. Marvel to see if Jersey City’s newest hero is really holding it down for these streets. Then to the Stranger Things Summer Special comic trade to see if Hawkins on paper still keeps that magic in the panels. And not just the superficial; we’re looking at the representation, the storytelling, and if these franchises are actually staying true to the fans.

Geek Down - Godzilla Vs. Kong, Bad Kids Press, MLP-Transformers, Mr.Ninja Slicey Puzzles

We're throwing hands over some kaiju carnage, mobile addiction, and the wildest crossover on the shelves (toy aisle, let's keep it 100%). What will it take in the film Godzilla vs. Kong to finally settle it: date night or couples therapy? Then the mobile game Mr. Ninja Slicey Puzzles is a blade-happy brain teaser and the kind of game you play while missing your stop on the train. The crew then dives into My Little Pony/Transformers: Friendship in Disguise! with zero shame, because the mashup is real -- they mixed Cybertronian metal with Equestrian magic, the vibe is ridiculous, and we respect the commitment to the bit. And it all caps off with an interview with Bad Kids Press, talking indie comics, building a label from the ground up, and moving like the culture doesn’t need permission to win.

Geek Down - White Men Can't Jump, Mrs. Davis, Fast X

We're talking the remake of White Men Can't Jump and the crew ain't coming to play nice this time, you might wanna take your ball and go home. Then we're strapping in for Fast X because at this point the laws of physics is just a vague suggestion. Seriously, how many crimes against gravity can one franchise commit? And finally, we're confessing our sins over Peacock's Mrs. Davis — yes, the one with a sexy Jesus — to debate whether letting AI and the robots take over might not be such a bad thing, considering . . .
