Searching For Silver Linings

The Creative Confidence Loop

I think we've been taught confidence wrong. We always say we'll start that thing when feel like we're confidence enough to do it, but we should gain the courage to just start it, and then gain the confidence after. It's taking that first leap, that first step, that first risk, and then each time it gets easier and easier.

Meeting Someone Twice

Do you think it's possible to meet someone twice? Have you ever met someone twice? I think the concept is a pretty fun one to dissect and can totally get you thinking. With a lot of change comes a lot of personal growth and development, and in a way creates these different versions of you... so does that mean we meet people as different versions of ourselves?

What does it mean to be a Culture-Maker?

I've been hearing this word a lot and honestly gravitating towards it more and more... so I really took some time to think okay what does this word actually mean and how can I become one myself..? For any creative out there, I know we all want to make an impact with our work, so how can we actually become Culture-Makers??

3 pieces of advice that I'm taking into my 20s...

Its been a minute... a lot of change happening and adapting to a new lifestyle, but in all honestly I absolutely love it. This past week at work I had a lot of coffee chats and three conversations really stood out to me with the advice that they gave me. I will say they have been said before, not entirely new, but I do think hearing it from the perspective of someone who has built their career in the creative industry is something that I find motivating. To hear it from someone who has been in my exact shoes has really resonated with me and I want to keep those pieces of advice as I navigate through my next chapter in my creative career.

The week I stopped trying to do everything before 8 a.m.....

I've been getting into a new routine lately and with that new routine has come gyming in the evenings instead of the mornings. I feel less rushed, I feel more calm, and I can have a somewhat slower morning. It got me thinking about the importance of slowing down and avoiding burnout from choosing to be a bit more present.

Just think of this podcast like a FaceTime call...

This one's a bit more random... not too much introspective thinking... a whole lot of rambling LOL

Navigating through sexuality, Asian American LGBTQ+ experience, and how I am choosing to live authentically

Happy Pride Month! That's all.

Why you should be a 2 Percenter...

I came across a video that talked about how comfort kills and ever since then I haven't stopped thinking about my own comfort. These past couple of weeks I've been mentally dealing with a lot, but I have no explanation as to why... but what I do know is that it is uncomfortable...and I need that. Sometimes we all need a little of discomfort in our lives to help us grow. That's what being a 2 Percenter is. 2% of all people choose to take the stairs when an elevator is right next to them. 2% of all people choose to slightly discomfort themselves on a day-to-day basis. But what does that do? It helps them grow from experience. Take a listen and let me know what you think. Are you in the 98% or the 2%?

Why do I feel like I can't fully process things...

Maybe I'm just at a weird moment in my life? The other day I was getting ready for school and then I just broke down crying, and to be honest, I couldn't really pinpoint why I was crying. But I think that's the reason why...I felt like I had no time to process emotions and events. And so I think it was this moment of realization that I didn't take any time to sit with myself and my thoughts and truly process anything that had happened. It was kind of just like desensitizing a feeling just so it wouldn't stop me from doing my day to day things. Weird right..? Even after recording the podcast I still don't know why I always feel the need to rush through my thoughts on something. I guess there will be things in life that we truly never know...

Breaking the Stigma: Mental Health Awareness Month!

May is for Mental Health Awareness (and AAPI too!) so let's break the stigma and continue to talk about it. Every podcast, every discussion, every vulnerable conversation about mental health allows it to become more normalized in society. Mental health has been such an important aspect to my upbringing and I want to continue sharing that story. There is and should never be any shame to ask for help if you need it. If needed, visit https://www.988california.org/ for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline website or dial/call 988 for 24 hours online chat. Please take care of yourselves :)
