فاطمه افکاری — روان‌درمانگر فاطمه خوش‌خلق — خالق خلوت اپیزود ۰۵ «خلوت» | سوگوارِ اراده‌مند ------------------------ Some losses are not ours to choose. But perhaps we can choose what we do with what we have been through. In this episode of Khalvat, we talk about the willful mourner — about what it means to live alongside a grief we never chose, to make meaning from our experience, and to remain capable of choosing, acting, and living alongside it. We are not talking about forgetting. We are talking about making room for our own experience within the story of our grief — rather than letting that story be shaped entirely by what happens around us, by the media, or by the narratives others create for us. Perhaps grief is not something that has to disappear from our lives. Perhaps it can become a part of our story without becoming the whole story. And perhaps moving forward does not always mean leaving grief behind. Sometimes, it means remaining willing to act alongside it — choosing, creating, building relationships, participating in our communities, and taking responsibility for the future and for the generations that come after us. In the midst of collective grief, hope is not simply a feeling. It can also become part of our will to keep life alive. Perhaps one way of continuing is to stay beside one another, listen to each other’s stories, and refuse to remain passive in shaping the story of what comes next.

🎙️ فاطمه افکاری — روان‌درمانگر 🎙️ «فاطمه خوش‌خلق — خالق «خلوت --------------------------- Episode 4 | How Can We Take Care of Our Own Narrative? Over the past three episodes, we’ve talked about collective grief — from the experience of grief and the narratives we build around it, to the things that shape those narratives. In Episode 3, we arrived at an important question: Where is the boundary between staying informed and taking care of our own narrative? In this episode, we take one step further and talk about ways to manage what enters our minds — from news and social media to the content we encounter every day. The goal isn’t to close our eyes to the world. It’s to become more aware of what we choose to carry with us into our solitude. 🎙️ Fatemeh Afkari — Psychotherapist 🎙️ Fatemeh Khosh-kholgh — Creator of “Khalvat” Khalvat

--------------------------- Episode 3 | The Boundary of Caring for Our Own Narrative In the previous two episodes, we talked about grief—from our personal experiences of it to the narratives we carry about what grief is supposed to look like. Now, we take a step further: where do these narratives enter us from? Every day, we are exposed to news, images, and countless stories through social media. But how much of what we see becomes part of our own experience? And when do we need to protect the narrative we have built around grief? In this episode, we explore that boundary—the space between what we take in and what we carry with us. In Episode 4, we’ll move from awareness to practice, exploring techniques for setting boundaries and managing these inputs.

In this continuation of Khalvat’s conversation about collective grief, we turn our attention to stories. We don’t grieve only the event itself. Sometimes, we also grieve through the stories we’ve heard about it—the stories of our families, friends, the media, and people who have experienced something similar. Sometimes, before we even have the chance to understand what we feel, these stories have already told us what we are supposed to feel. In this episode, Fatemeh KhoshKholgh speaks with Fatemeh Afkari, psychotherapist, about how other people’s narratives can enter our personal experience of grief and shape the way we experience it. And we leave this conversation with a question: How much of the story I have about my grief is truly my own?

------------------------------------------------------------------- Some things don’t happen only to us; they happen to many of us, at the same time. In the first episode of Khalvat, we begin our conversation with collective grief — with the painful events we have experienced in recent months, and with what happens to our experience of grief when a pain becomes both personal and shared. What does grief look like for each of us? How do we carry loss, pain, and the wounds that stay with us? In this conversation, we pause for a moment — to listen to our own experiences of grief and to ask questions that may not have a single answer. Fatemeh Afkari — Psychotherapist Fatemeh Khoshkholgh — Creator of Khalvat At Khalvat, we are here with you — to talk about what lives within us, and what we find ourselves thinking about in solitude. What does grief look like for you?

------------ Some conversations only happen in solitude. So we decided to start right there — with ourselves. In Episode Zero, we talk about how we met, the things that have been on our minds lately, and why we created Khalvat in the first place. This is a space for conversations about being human — about life, relationships, loneliness, fear, choices, grief, hope, and everything that quietly lives within us. Not because we have all the answers, but because maybe some questions are better understood together. This is our very first conversation. Fatemeh Afkari (psychotherapist)- Fatemeh Khoshkholgh Welcome to Khalvat.
