Episode notes

------------------------
Some losses are not ours to choose.
But perhaps we can choose what we do with what we have been through.
In this episode of Khalvat, we talk about the willful mourner — about what it means to live alongside a grief we never chose, to make meaning from our experience, and to remain capable of choosing, acting, and living alongside it.
We are not talking about forgetting.
We are talking about making room for our own experience within the story of our grief — rather than letting that story be shaped entirely by what happens around us, by the media, or by the narratives others create for us.
Perhaps grief is not something that has to disappear from our lives.
Perhaps it can become a part of our story without becoming the whole story.
And perhaps moving forward does not always mean leaving grief behind.
Sometimes, it means remaining willing to act alongside it — choosing, creating, building relationships, participating in our communities, and taking responsibility for the future and for the generations that come after us.
In the midst of collective grief, hope is not simply a feeling. It can also become part of our will to keep life alive.
Perhaps one way of continuing is to stay beside one another, listen to each other’s stories, and refuse to remain passive in shaping the story of what comes next.
