Episode notes
In this continuation of Khalvat’s conversation about collective grief, we turn our attention to stories.
We don’t grieve only the event itself. Sometimes, we also grieve through the stories we’ve heard about it—the stories of our families, friends, the media, and people who have experienced something similar. Sometimes, before we even have the chance to understand what we feel, these stories have already told us what we are supposed to feel.
In this episode, Fatemeh KhoshKholgh speaks with Fatemeh Afkari, psychotherapist, about how other people’s narratives can enter our personal experience of grief and shape the way we experience it.
And we leave this conversation with a question:
How much of the story I have about my grief is truly my own?
