Ep 15 The Art of Resilience — with Mariah Braun

In this episode of Get Uncomfortable, Brenton sits down with Mariah Braun, a multifaceted entrepreneur, filmmaker, and creative industry advocate who’s built her career around courage, storytelling, and resilience. Mariah is the CEO of M3M Marketing and M3M Studios, recognized as a driving force in Alberta’s creative community. Her leadership and impact have earned her the City of Grande Prairie’s 2022 Young Woman of Influence Award, the 2023 Northwestern Polytechnic Alumni Entrepreneurship Award, and the 2025 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award from the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce. Together, Brenton and Mariah explore what resilience really means, not as a buzzword, but as the quiet strength it takes to build, rebuild, and create through chaos. They discuss how adversity can fuel creativity, what it takes to lead in uncertain seasons, and how both have used discomfort as the foundation for personal and professional growth. This is a conversation about courage, creativity, and the art of rebuilding when life doesn’t go to plan. 🔑 In This Episode: Building success through discomfort and uncertainty Turning challenges into creative growth The lessons behind M3M’s rise in northern Alberta Storytelling as healing and connection The meaning of representation and leadership in small communities What resilience really looks like — in business, life, and identity 🎧 Guest Links: Mariah Braun Instagram → @mariahbcreates | @m3mmarketing | @m3mstudiosgp TikTok → @mariahbcreates | @m3mmarketing | @m3mstudios YouTube → @m3mmarketing | @M3MStudios 🎙️ Follow Get Uncomfortable: Instagram → @getuncomfortablepod YouTube → @Get.Uncomfortable

Ep 14 The Power of Reinvention: Becoming More Than Who You Were

In this episode, Brenton dives deep into the process of reinvention and what it really means to evolve without blowing up your life. From being a high school athlete to a tradesman who fell out of shape, to rebuilding through fitness, real estate, leadership, and most recently running a half marathon. This is a raw look at how personal transformation happens one decision at a time. Brenton shares how the mindset of reinvention has shaped every chapter of his life, and how role models like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mel Robbins prove that starting over doesn’t mean starting from scratch. “Whether you believe you can or believe you can’t — you’re right.” – Henry Ford If you’ve ever felt stuck in a version of yourself that no longer fits, this episode will remind you that you’re allowed to outgrow who you were. Reinvention is proof you’re still growing. Ep 13 What’s Really Behind the Mirror: A Live IFS Therapy Demo on Body Image

In this bonus episode of Get Uncomfortable, you’ll hear something different: A live, unscripted demo of what an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy session actually sounds like, led by therapist Johnathon Fortune of @theragen.counselling. I chose body image as the topic to explore. A theme a lot of us struggle with but rarely talk about out loud. What unfolded was eye-opening. Through the lens of IFS, we unpacked the different "parts" of myself that show up when it comes to body image: The inner critic The driven performer The vulnerable part underneath it all If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and heard a voice that didn’t feel like your own — this episode is for you. This is not just a conversation. It’s a practice. It’s what getting uncomfortable actually looks like. In this episode: What a real IFS session sounds like How body image struggles show up in high performers The power of naming and understanding your “parts” Why self-compassion isn’t soft — it’s necessary 🎧 Listen now on Spotify + YouTube 📲 Follow @getuncomfortablepod for more

Ep 12 Therapy isn't just for the broken - With Johnathon Fortune

You don’t need to be in crisis to go to therapy. In this episode of Get Uncomfortable, I sit down with therapist and founder of Theragen Counselling, Johnathon Fortune, for a real conversation about what therapy actually is and what it’s not. I share parts of my own journey: -Why I avoided therapy for so long -How it helped me even when things looked fine -The constant tension I feel between being driven and being still And why I’ve started to see therapy as training for my mind, not a sign of weakness Johnathon brings powerful insight on: -Internal Family Systems (IFS) and how it helps people understand their inner parts -Attachment theory and how it plays out in our day-to-day lives -Why men especially avoid therapy And what makes those uncomfortable conversations so worth it This episode is for anyone who's ever felt pressure to hold it all together, and wants to understand why slowing down might be the key to real growth. 🎙️ Guest: @theragengp website- theragen.ca 📲 Follow: @getuncomfortablepod

I turned 37 this year. Out on a quiet birthday camping trip, it hit me — if the average man in Canada lives to 74, I’m already halfway there. In this solo episode, I unpack the emotions, reflections, and lessons that came with that realization: Why milestones can be uncomfortable but powerful wake-up calls A story about an “old guy with a young soul” that changed how I see aging What the “meaning of life” looks like to me right now Three questions to ask yourself whenever you hit a big milestone Whether you’re 27 or 67, this episode will challenge you to think about how you’re spending your years — and how to make the second half the best half. 🎧 Listen, reflect, and share your thoughts with me on Instagram @getuncomfortablepod

Ep 9 - Fitness is the Gateway to Success

In this solo episode, I get real about something most people don’t talk about: I’ve struggled with imposter syndrome when it comes to fitness. I’m not at my physical peak. I’m still working toward it. But the reps I put in at the gym are directly tied to the wins I get in life. Fitness is more than a routine — it’s the foundation for everything else. Whether it’s business, relationships, or mental resilience — how you do one thing is how you do everything. And fitness is where I train that mindset. ⏱ Timestamps: 00:35 – My personal struggle with imposter syndrome 01:30 – How fitness translates to success in other areas of life 04:45 – Why you need to keep it simple 07:30 – How discipline carries over into who you become 11:10 – Delayed gratification and how change compounds over time 18:00 – Overcoming the stories you tell yourself 26:25 – Why fitness impacts every aspect of your life 👊 Let’s Get Uncomfortable: You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to show up — especially when it’s hard. That’s what success demands. And it starts with your body. 🔗 Connect with Me: Instagram →@getuncomfortablepod YouTube → @Get.Uncomfortable 💬 If this episode hits home, rate the show, send it to a friend, and tag me on Instagram.
