Episode notes
Join host Christian Marchetti and FPF contributors Jake Holub and Jose Campo as they discuss a host of big topics in the Australian football scene at the moment!
We start by looking at all of the significant stories within the landscape lately, including the major transfers across the A-Leagues, notable news surrounding Aussies abroad, and a recap of all the recent results in the NPL leagues across Australia (2:12).
Then the boys deep dive into the first major discussion of the podcast, as they provide their thoughts on Douglas Costa's move to Sydney FC, considering how the Brazilian might fare down under and whether or not a return of the A-Leagues' marquee strategy is a positive (19:05). They also briefly discuss rumours linking former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata with a move to the Western Sydney Wanderers (34:31).
In the second half of the episode, a full review of the Australia Cup Round of 16 is provided, as the trio reveal their takeaways from each match, including which A-League Men sides are setting themselves up for strong league seasons and the NPL clubs who should be considered dark horses for the tournament (42:26).
Later on, the boys briefly preview the Socceroos' upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bahrain and Indonesia (1:05:26) before finishing with their predictions for the Australia Cup Quarter-Finals (1:14:36).
