Episode notes
The Front Page Football Podcast has officially been REVIVED after a long absence!!
Join host Christian Marchetti and FPF contributors Cody Ojeda and Matt Olsen for the next 90 minutes as they discuss a host of Australian football items from the past few months!
The boys start with a round-up of all the major transfer stories that have occurred during the A-League Men's pre-season, including Auckland FC's recruitment and controversial loan signing of Alex Paulsen, which has prompted a review into the 'Caceres Clause' (3:54). Perth correspondent Matt gives his thoughts into the Glory's big off-season (18:44), and Cody highlights Macarthur's intriguing business (34:26).
They also discuss the A-League Women's off-season, which has seen a stack of players depart the league for professional opportunities abroad, once again raising concerns about the league's lack of professionalism. The boys discuss this topic and consider whether the Dub is becoming a development league like its men's counterpart (37:10).
Meanwhile, away from the professional game, NPL seasons across the country are drawing to a close, with Matt providing his insights into a fascinating season in the NPL WA (57:57), Cody praising NPL NSW premiers Rockdale Ilinden for an excellent season (1:02:17), and Christian wrapping up the state of play across all the national leagues (1:05:38).
Finally, though a few weeks removed from the Matildas' Olympics campaign in Paris, the boys finish by reflecting on the campaign that was, discussing the side's performance (1:11:54) and who should take over from Tony Gustavsson (1:23:28).
