The Missing Step
Hello,
Welcome to Cager’s Coffee Break!
Have you ever decided to cook something without really reading the entire recipe first?
You glance at the ingredients and think, “Oh, I can make this.”
So you get started.
Then halfway through, the recipe says, “Marinate overnight.”
Overnight?!
Dinner is supposed to be ready in forty-five minutes!
Now you're standing in the kitchen staring at that recipe like it personally betrayed you.
That's when you learn an important life lesson: sometimes you really do need to know where you're going before you start the journey.
Coffee has quite a journey of its own. What we commonly call a coffee bean begins as a seed inside the fruit of the coffee plant, often called a coffee cherry. Once those cherries are harvested, the seeds must be separated from the fruit and processed before they're dried and eventually roasted.
But here's where it gets interesting. The way coffee is processed can help shape the flavors we eventually experience in the cup. Some coffees are processed with more of the fruit remaining around the seed for a period of time, while other methods remove the fruit much sooner. Those different approaches can influence the sweetness, body, acidity, and fruity characteristics we taste later.
So that cup of coffee you're enjoying didn't simply become delicious when you pushed the button on the coffee maker.
It went through a process.
And so do we.
We sometimes want everything in life to happen immediately. We want the answer today, the opportunity tomorrow, and the finished result by Friday.
But some of the best things in life develop over time.
Patience develops.
Wisdom develops.
Friendships develop.
Confidence develops.
Even our ability to handle life's unexpected moments develops.
Maybe you're working toward something right now and wondering why it's taking so long. Don't automatically assume that nothing is happening simply because you can't see the finished result yet. You may still be in the process, and sometimes the process is exactly where the character develops.
So, enjoy your Cager’s Coffee today and remember that good things aren't always instant, and don’t forget to grab yourself a delicious cup of Cager’s Coffee and come visit us at www.cagerscoffeehut.com.
And the next time you're trying a new recipe, read all the way to the bottom first, before starting to create it! Because nobody wants to discover “refrigerate for eight hours” when everybody is already sitting at the dinner table and remember to keep brewing kindness one cup at a time.
