SHANTEL THOMAS & DR SYLVIA SMITH on Dialogues that Matters discussion on Anti-Racist Movement (ARM)

The Anti-Racist Movement (ARM) emerged in 2022 as a transformative force within the realm of social work, providing a dedicated space for black women to confront and dismantle the pervasive forces of racism, misogyny, and intersectional oppression.

Born out of a collective desire to address the unique challenges faced by black female social work professionals, ARM serves as a sanctuary for healing, advocacy, and community-building.

The inception of ARM can be traced back to a pivotal discussion among black female social work professionals who recognised a void in existing spaces for addressing the nuanced experiences of anti-black racism
