Resourced & Resourceful Leadership

La La La Lunch, Leadership, and Turning 47
This week I'm recapping retreat week, including how it all wrapped up with La La La Lunch, a karaoke gathering in my backyard for folks who are parenting and caregiving while doing mission-driven work. I share what the day looked like, the songs people were bold enough to sing, and the connections my guests made between karaoke and leadership. Spoiler: they delivered. Then, since I just turned 47, I walk through my birthday reflections using four questions: Where was I last year? Where do I want to be next year? What am I proud of? And what's one thing I want to do in the year ahead? I'd love to hear from you too. What are you most proud of from the last year? Let's Connect! www.drchristinepetit.com LinkedIn: Christine E. Live From Retreat Week
I'm reporting live from retreat week! Well, not so live, since I'll publish this. I recorded this one at El Dorado Park in Long Beach, no intro music, no editing, just one and done, imperfections and all. I share how the week is unfolding so far: morning check-ins with my coach, mapping the phases of my consulting journey on colored paper, the gratitude I have for my champions and super referrers, and the theme that keeps emerging for me: space. Let your work breathe. Let yourself breathe. I also talk about what's bubbling up, including Around the Fire, a group coaching offering to help you tend to your inner flame, and La La La Lunch, karaoke and catharsis for people who care. And I'm bringing back the closing coaching questions: What is asking you for space right now? What's one tiny step you can take to honor that? Taking the Long View: June Reflections
This episode is all about taking the long view. I had two coaching sessions early in June that both circled around this theme, and it's been something I've kept coming back to ever since. I share a situation where getting coached on what taking the long view of the relationship could look like completely shifted how I was holding it. I also talk about the fear that comes up around putting myself and my offers more visibly out into the world, and what it looked like to get coached on that from the perspective of my 93- or 97-year-old self (she's a little sassy, by the way). Then I get into a June recap. I'm sharing an update on my inner wise self love note challenge, some honest reflections about where I'm at with my body and starting hormone replacement therapy, and a look ahead to my business retreat and the La La La Lunch karaoke event I'm hosting for nonprofit and social impact parent-leaders in the Long Beach area. It's a lot, but it felt like the right time to document it all. Karaoke: A Love Story
I didn't always love karaoke. I used to think you had to be good at it. In this episode, I'm taking you through how that changed: sushi-bar karaoke nights in my early L.A. days, a surprise Mack the Knife from a fellow union leader, a conga line on Broadway that ended in my karaoke home, and yes, singing very pregnant trying to convince my breech daughter to flip. Along the way I share what karaoke has taught me about leadership — catharsis, play, community, and just letting yourself be all in. I'm also telling you why I'm hosting La La La Lunch, a daytime karaoke mixer on Friday, July 10th from noon–1:30 in Long Beach for nonprofit and social-impact leaders who are in the thick of parenting. Bring your own lunch, I'll bring the mic. Come sing, sing backup, or just sing along: https://tinyurl.com/LaLaLaLunch Let's Connect! www.drchristinepetit.com LinkedIn: Christine E. When Life Gets Colorful with Eydie Pasicel
When does life get colorful? According to Eydie Pasicel, it's when we stop living in the black and white, when we get to know our parts, understand our chart, and stop letting our unconscious run the show. In this episode of Resourced & Resourceful Leadership, I talk with Eydie of Polaris Coaching, who is building a holistic coaching practice that weaves together astrology, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and death doula work, and more! We explore how IFS and astrology are more aligned than you might think, why non-pathologizing frameworks matter, and what becomes possible when we stop living in black and white and start letting life get colorful. Eydie shares her journey from nonprofit leadership and working with survivors of violence to building a practice that helps clients map their inner world through both the stars and their parts. We also dive into her training as a death doula and why she believes that talking about death is one of the most powerful ways to get present to what matters right now. Eydie brings a sweet and grounded presence to her powerful work. You can connect with her at https://www.polariscoaches.com as well as on Instagram and Facebook. The Systems Quietly Shaping Your Life: Priya Sudarsanam Interviews Dr. Christine Petit
How much of who we become is shaped by systems we didn't consciously choose? In this episode, I join host Priya Sudarsanam on her podcast Unmute with Priya to explore the invisible systems that shape our identities, relationships, work, and sense of self — and what it looks like to reclaim your agency within them. As a sociologist, leadership coach, and organizational consultant working with women and leaders across sectors (including nonprofits, philanthropy, government, and business), I bring both a structural lens and a deeply personal one to this conversation. We dig into why life transitions crack people open, why so many women over 40 become expert over-functioners and burn out chasing purpose, and how to lead from your values instead of your exhaustion. We also talk about reconnecting with your own inner wisdom — including a simple three-minute writing practice that helps you access the answers you already have (if you haven't joined the June Inner Wise Self Love Note challenge, check out last week's episode!) — and how to get clear on what's actually in your sphere of control when the world feels overwhelming. Lead From Where You Stand: Katherine Golub on Conflict, Burnout, and Community Leadership
In this episode, I'm joined by Katherine Golub, conflict coach, city councilor, and host of the podcast Conflict Decoded. Katherine works with activists, organizers, and community leaders who are burnt out and wondering what's next. What she's found over 13 years of coaching might surprise you: burnout isn't just about overworking. It's about the interpersonal dynamics that often go undiscussed and unresolved. We get into systemic constellations, what it means to lead from your node in a movement, power dynamics in the workplace, and why clarity is the number one thing her clients are looking for. Katherine also shares how her own experience as a union organizer, a single parent navigating her partner's deportation and displacement, and a city councilor shaped the coach and leader she is today. It's been cool getting to know Katherine, and I think you'll get a lot out of this conversation. The closest match we found is from her more recent work Outgrowing Modernity: "a frequency that allows us to see ourselves as both insufficient and indispensable to this whole." No Bad Parts: Including the "Chill" Part That's Actually Trying to Control Everything
In this episode, I'm sharing what's been on my mind lately as I go deeper into Internal Family Systems (IFS) — the practice of getting to know the different parts of ourselves and leading from a place of self-energy. I talk about the eight C's of self, the difference between self-improvement and self-attunement, and a powerful "bridge sentence" for repairing relationships after a rupture. I also get real about my own parts, including the one that was pretending to be chill while actually trying to control everything. If you're curious about IFS, self-leadership, or just navigating difficult conversations with more compassion and awareness, this episode is for you.
