The dairy industry is shifting from focusing on liquid milk volume to enhancing valuable components like butterfat and protein. Driven by advancements in genomics and the strategic use of sexed semen, this evolution has led to significant genetic progress, particularly in breeds like Holstein cattle, where productivity in butterfat and protein has seen remarkable gains—28.9% and 22.9%, respectively, by 2023.
