The bow is the very front part of the ship, and the very back end of it is called the stern. The port side is the left and the starboard side is the right. Propellers are sometimes referred to as “screws.” The hull is the metal sides of the ship, the keel is the very bottom of it, and the superstructure is the top deck, usually made of wood.
