The writer of Psalm 73 wrestles with an all-too-human struggle: envy. Looking around, he sees the wicked prosper while his own pursuit of purity seems to bring only hardship. It feels unfair—until he enters “the sanctuary of God.” In that moment of realignment, everything changes.
In God’s presence, the psalmist gains eternal perspective. He sees that worldly success is fleeting, and that those who trust in temporary riches are standing on slippery ground. What once seemed desirable now fades in comparison to knowing God Himself. The psalmist realizes that even in seasons of confusion, bitterness, or struggle, God is near—holding his hand, guiding him with wisdom, and promising to receive him into glory.
