Episode notes

King Hezekiah became ruler of Judah after his father Ahaz had led the people far away from God. What would this new king do differently?

In this Bible story for kids, we follow King Hezekiah as he opens the doors of God's temple, restores worship, celebrates the Passover, removes idols, and calls God's people to return to the Lord.

We'll also discover why Hezekiah destroyed the bronze serpent that Moses had made many years earlier. Something God had once used for a good purpose had become an idol because the people had begun worshipping it.

The Bible tells us that Hezekiah trusted in the Lord and held fast to Him. Although Hezekiah was not perfect, his reign began very differently from that of his father, Ahaz.

But danger is coming. The powerful Assyrian Empire has already conquered the northern kingdom of Israel and soon Hezekiah's trust in God will be put to the test.

Bible passages: 2 Chronicles 29–31; 2 Kings 18:1–8

Today's lesson: God calls His people to trust Him, listen to His Word, and worship Him alone.

Wonderfully Made follows the story of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, helping children discover who God is, understand His unfolding plan, and see how He faithfully keeps His promises.
