The Fall of Israel | Why Did God Allow Assyria to Conquer Israel? | Bible Story for Kids
Episode notes
Why did the kingdom of Israel fall to Assyria?
In this episode of Wonderfully Made: Bible Stories for Children, we discover the story of Israel's last king, Hoshea, the fall of Samaria, and the end of the northern kingdom of Israel in 2 Kings 17.
King Hoshea had been serving the powerful king of Assyria and paying him tribute. But Hoshea secretly turned to Egypt for help and stopped paying Assyria. The Assyrian king discovered his rebellion, captured Hoshea, and invaded Israel.
But the Bible tells us about a much deeper rebellion.
For generations, Israel had turned away from the Lord. They worshipped false gods, rejected God's commands, and refused to listen even though God patiently sent prophets to warn them and call them back.
Eventually, the Assyrian army surrounded Samaria. After three years, the city fell, and many Israelites were carried away.
But this did not mean that Assyria was more powerful than God. God had warned Israel again and again about what would happen if they continued to reject Him.
In this Bible story for kids, children will learn about King Hoshea, the Assyrian Empire, the fall of Samaria, why the northern kingdom of Israel fell, God's patience, God's warnings, and why God's Word can always be trusted.
Bible passage: 2 Kings 17
God had been patient with His people, but His warnings were real.
God always keeps His Word.
