King Ahaz, Isaiah & the Sign of Immanuel | Bible Story for Kids
Episode notes
King Ahaz is terrified. Two enemy kings have joined together against Judah—but God sends the prophet Isaiah with an incredible message: Do not be afraid.
In this episode of Wonderfully Made: Bible Stories for Children, we follow the story of King Ahaz and the prophet Isaiah from Isaiah 7, 2 Kings 16, and 2 Chronicles 28.
Unlike his father Jotham, Ahaz does not follow the Lord. When the kings of Aram and Israel join together against Judah, Ahaz and his people are shaken with fear.
But God sends Isaiah to the frightened king with a message of hope. God promises that the enemies' plan will not succeed and even offers Ahaz a sign.
Ahaz refuses.
So God gives a remarkable promise:
Immanuel, God with us.
Instead of trusting the Lord, Ahaz turns to the powerful king of Assyria for help. His decision will have consequences for Judah, while God's promise points forward to something far greater.
Hundreds of years later, the Gospel of Matthew will return to Isaiah's words when telling us about the birth of Jesus Christ.
In this Bible story for kids, children will learn about trusting God when they are afraid, listening to God's Word, King Ahaz's choice, the prophet Isaiah, the rise of Assyria, and the wonderful promise of Immanuel, God with us.
