Magic Series: Episode 13- Familiars

Have you heard of the Magic of Familiars? What are Familiars? Well, Familiars are commonly associated with animals who are to believed to be spirit guides, deities or ancestors manifested into a inconspicuous companion. Often the mention of familiars refer to pets such as dogs, cats, bugs, insects, and not limited to birds, reptiles and vermin; such as mice and rats. Now, other living things such as trees and rivers can be named as a familiar. These spirits will often resemble ourselves, or a past loved one coming back to be with us again. People also believe that they are spirits who chose you specifically, and knows your path better than you do while you begin to figure it out. A familiar by definition is a living thing that has an extremely strong connection such as love, obedience, friendship or all of the above to us. Just like when we are browsing for pets and we suddenly "connect" with them and they become our best friend, the connection almost seems fated, like the universe put you together for a bigger reason.Oftentimes witches and spiritual practitioners have centuries of tales of great leaders, sorcerers, and respected people having some type of animal companion that brings them good fortune, support, and power. Many of Disney movies depict the existence of familiars such as Sebastian in the Little Mermaid, Meeko in Pocahontas, Iago in Aladdin, and Tinker Bell in Peter Pan.But what do they do? The belief is that this spirit "animal" has found you to help you through life, and they will match your energy and intentions. It has been believed that a familiar spirit shares the same energy in separate bodies, just like the idea of a soulmate or twin flame. Is the relationship with familiars always perfect? No, just like all of our relationships, the familiar has its own thoughts ideas and needs. However, they have a supernatural loyalty to only you and your path. Familiars can be loyal to more than one person at a time, but who they decide to show loyalty to then creates a spiritual family unknown the social eyes. These familiars can be demons, angels and other parts of us that manifest into a living body, as to why they are with you, as you decide to keep them with you. For example, once you heal pain from the past, it is common for the familiar to find it's way out of your life, and its soul purpose was to aid and go through the healing process with you. Now that the healing is done, they often time end their time with you, either death, running away, or living with another person. Does any of this sound familiar? Magic Series: Episode 12- Birdhouses

Birdhouses have been part of Western culture for hundreds of years in both North America and Europe. Over the centuries baskets and clay pottery were used as the initial birdhouses in Europe while birch bark was used in North America. The first use of man-made birdhouses in history was around the 15th - 16th century. In Turkey, birdhouses were built for sparrows and swallows during the pre-Ottoman period. They were made of bricks, tiles, wood, stone and mortar. Birdhouses in Turkey were often built into the façade of the building and complemented the architecture surrounding it. The purpose of these birdhouses was to shelter the birds from harsh weather and increase the number of birds in the area. Fallen birch trees with a diameter of 5-6 inches would be cut in small sections of 6 - 8 inches. The heart wood would be removed from the bark by hitting and loosening the bark. The removed heartwood could be cut in slices and two of these slices could be pushed back into the roll of bark to be the top and bottom of the birdhouse. A 1-2 inch hole would be created in the bark to all a bird access to the inner cavity. European Origins influencing North America While we normally think of birdhouses as a way to protect nature and increase the amount of birds in our area, that was not always the case. Birdhouses in some places in Europe were used initially as a trap to capture eggs and even birds. These birdhouses were typically made of clay and were built like a vase; however, in most cases birdhouses have been used to protect wild birds from harsh weather and predators as well as provide a location to live. When the early colonists came to Williamsburg, Virginia there were interested in attracting birds for pest control. In magick, Birch is associated with inception, fertility, and sometimes with purification. (Birch has natural antiseptic properties.) Birch is traditionally used for the Witch’s besom, Beltane fires and Maypoles, and Yule logs. “Birch into the fire goes/In sign of what the Lady knows,” goes the traditional Wiccan rhyme. Birch does well in rough, acidic soil and cold climates—places where larger deciduous trees cannot grow. Although Birch appears fragile, it is extremely strong. Magic Series: Episode 11- Mania

The Magic of Mania is very connected to Shadow work. It is the negative energy that we need to purge in order to move on or allow something we need or want into our lives. We all go through episodes or even seasons of Mania! In time of extreme or even passive Manic episodes we may feel we have not behaved like "ourselves" this is often tied to some folklore that if your are highly spiritually sensitive you are a vessel for many energies, spirits or entities to pass through you. These entities usually act out their goals through us and can be strongly connected to mediumship. One reason they choose us is because we feel the same as the entity in some way. What makes Mania different is that it touches on the unhealed parts of us we are refusing, don't know how, or were unaware needing changing. But where is the Magic in this? The Magic is being spiritually fluid enough and aware that this will in fact PASS through and it is not intended to stay. When you become aware, you no longer fear the Manic episode you allow it to take it natural course. (This is not a substitute for any professional medical advise) Often times practitioners will allow this time to do some spiritual sweeping on themselves, on others or join the consciousness of others on a bigger scale. For example, when aware of a manic episode, a practitioner will use this energy to fight or protest with others for a cause they support if they normally sit in the shadows. Instead they will be in the crowd joining with the bigger consciousness. Deep down this cause is what they really care about and would like to change instead fighting with someone else. Another example, is Mania may take place in the presence of people who have done you wrong with or without your knowledge and the negative energy is 'telling' on them, especially when you felt fine moments before seeing them. Again, this is strongly connected to Shadow Work. Mania can also be the presence of the stronger self, the courageous self, the fearless self or the menacing self. Mania is a way to fight back spiritually. Sometimes society and the false sense that we are just our bodies can trigger thoughts of Mania, to remind us that a stronger and scarier version of us is much bigger than our bodies. Magic Series: Episode 10- Dirt

The Magic of Dirt is something you do not want to miss out on! Most magical practitioners know the value of dirt. Dirt is everywhere, in or near every home, school, office, institution, etc. Dirt holds a certain type of energy. What type, you say? Well the intention of the building or land from which you find the dirt. But how is it magical? Dirt is carried from place to place on our shoes, tires and decorative plants. The place from which it came, where it ends up, and the carrier make it magical! Dirt is the most natural part of magic as it is connected to the most authentic part of nature. Things are buried, planted, sustained, and preserved in dirt. It is often overlooked or forgotten about in the entire scheme of things. Animals make homes in the dirt and underground to stay safe from land predators, other animals or humans. Dirt is placed around a building as decoration for plants and grass to provide sustainable air to breath; but at the same time as we absorb air, the dirt absorbs our energies. For example, dirt placed around a bank has the energy to bring about large sums of money successfully coming in and going out. The success of the bank is absorbed in the dirt around it giving it its magical properties! So where can we collect dirt for our magical purposes? Just about anywhere! Let's take a look at some places where collecting dirt can help manifest your intentions as follows: Holy Dirt- Dirt from Synagogues, Mosques, Churches and places of Worship are very good for protection, safety, connecting with spirit, and meditation. Grave Dirt- Dirt from graveyards, cemeteries and places of burials are good for hexing, dark magic, revenge or domination. People often collect grave dirt of very wealthy or famous people, as to why they are often buried in secret or have concrete graves. Bank Dirt- Dirt from prominent financial institutions to attract money, wealth, success, job, better business and stable living. Court Dirt- Dirt from a courthouse or place of justice to attract justice, fairness, intervention, victory and compromise. Community Dirt- Dirt collected from a wealthy community to attract the same comfort success, and respect from a more favored part of society for bettering of oneself. This can also include a very successful business or institution that you may have access to. Where do you put the dirt? Good question, it all depends how you practice your own magic, but dirt is usually carried on the person who is looking to gain, it can be put around your home or office to insure that energy is always with you or helping you. Dirt is often added to spells rituals and mojo bags to enhance the power of your intentions. Magic Series: Episode 9- Kaftans

Kaftans, magical? Yes! Just like any robe or dress worn during magical rituals, kaftans are just as magical. The idea of expressing colors, patterns and symbols onto your clothing a powerful way to capture magic! Ever wonder why sports teams, and political officials wear uniformed clothing? Well, their uniform serves a purpose and this is how we recognize them as a group. Certain colors and designs are subconsciously embedded in us to know what these uniforms mean. Such as judges, cops, referees, and etc. In earlier centuries tribes and nations were recognized by the way they dress. More so, ceremonial dress and the dress of political, royal, or spiritual leadership! These dresses invoked the honor, respect, or fear they intended from the people or persons they were meant to encounter! In earlier centuries these garments were blessed, cleansed, and protected. They were often kept away from other pieces of clothing, such as today as we wear our formal wear, or Sunday best! Kaftans are a spiritual tools to ceremonies, rituals, and special occasions. This form of dress was meant to carry with it a sacred vibe, or power! The wearing of these garments can be seen all around the world! Although they are common, as a simple line of fashion, its' original intent was to be distinguishable from the crowd! Magic Series: Episode 8- Watches

The Magic of Watches is an enigma! The Magic and Superstition can overlap. But what do they have to do with magic? Well, in magic and spiritual practice and rituals, timing is very important executing plans, manifestations, and coordinating the right time. Though the first time keeping device was not invented until 1509, older generations have used sundials and the stars, and the Sun to keep precise time. But the watch as a portable device is something very special! The culmination of math, science and metaphysics have been harnessed into a small portable device, because clocks and timekeeping devices are rumored to be alive! For example, most know, that grandfather clocks get settled into one place in a lifetime, and when it is moved, it never works correctly ever again! Weird, right? It is said that the moving parts of clocks, watches and timekeeping devices, functions as a human body; like the ticking of a heartbeat! It is rumored, when a clock or watch stops, that will be the same time of a death of a loved one, or foretells the hour in which you may die in the future. It is rumored that gifting someone a watch is considered a curse, and an intended breakup or departing of a relationship. I find it strange that some companies will gift retirees watches as parting gifts, and soon after, they die; long before a natural time. Some say that is a strategic practice to stop paying a pension to their former employees, I don't know, but something to think about. Lastly, it is an uncommon rumor that a room that a clock or watch keeps acting up or dying in, is an indication of a powerful spiritual portal. That space holds the secret as to how spirits travel in and out of your space! Watches can be added to ritual magic, such as setting a watch to a certain time, or day (for a digital watch) as to when you expect or prefer your goal to manifest, the universal forces will feel obligated to bring that goal to fruition in that exact time, however, you yourself need to be ready, and make necessary measures and work! Magic Series: Episode 7- Psychology

Now the Magic of Psychology is where true magic begins in your life. It is true, if you do not believe, it will not be. Because all things begin the mind. All things begin with an intention. An all things have been, to a point, rationalized. Psychology makes our thoughts, and actions predictable, as where magic of psychology reveals the secrets of these patterns. Why talk about this? Well, our core beliefs for society standards, religion, health and etc make all of our other actions predictable. For example, if you believe you will not find true love unless your body is perfect, then you are predicted to be in the gym 3+ times a week, and you will not find satisfaction and or happiness until your body is right. In the meantime we can predict that you will be filled of self loathing and trigger others with you consider physical flaws. You may be prone to discrimination, hate, and people pleasing. Then when you Continue to be single, you will blame yourself and blame yourself harshly. Why is this relevant? Well, while we blame ourselves we generate extreme negative energies. We attach ourselves to an outcome, while negative forces attach themselves to you. Now, these energies being attached to you, you will never get to your destination. Will you shape your body? Yes! Will you move up the ladder? Yes! Will you find true love? No!But why? Because your psychology has predicted that you fitting into a conforming 'shape' in order to obtain a goal you have seen everyone of that shape obtain. You would have forgotten to love self outside the social circle, outside the physical body etc. Negative forces have no interest in your body, because we all will die one day, with our body. However the spirit is what is being attacked, through your mind. Feeding the mind material things, love for admiration, money and things that are not worth anything in the long term will always weigh on our spirit. Granted that we will try to spend, or flirt that feeling away, but it will not go away. Spirit is the bigger force being driven in our tiny and temporary bodies. The feeding is also transmuted to the spirit. How? Easy, your vibration, which is guided by your psychology, will be drawn to things that you are familiar or accustomed to. Some mindsets are not trained or learned to deviate from what they are told to do, assuming they will have a great outcome by comparing their actions to others. You see this often in religion. They follow the same path as those before them, and assume they will be just as successful, or endure the same conflicts, etc. Since we are all individuals, this will never be mathematically true. There is scientific proof that that all that are taught the same will not endure the same. Causing what we know today as a lost spirit. Feelings of loneliness, worthlessness, inferiorities, and a sense of not belonging. Religion will justify this as a well deserved punishment, and provoke you to dedicate yourself even more to see positive results. However, this never attributes to any more or less success. What is the point of this? Reframing your psychology will reframe your vibration, which will set you on the path you were meant to be on. You may as well feel lonely, and unique in a more positive way, deserving of blessing instead of punishment, being on the path which you belong. Magic Series: Episode 6- Fasting

The Magic of Fasting is extremely powerful! If you come from a religious background, you may have heard of fasting to kickstart your spiritual journey. This is indeed correct. There are physical and metaphysical components that allow this to happen. But essentially what is fasting? Fasting is denying your body or mind of something you do routinely to gain a higher sense of self, motivation, and answer some mystery questions of the subconscious. For instance, the most popular type of fasting is denying the body food for a specific period to bring the mind back into alignment with spirit. This helps you figure out how strong your mind is over your body. Most people in the western world find food fasting difficult, since our culture feeds us so much food ideology on a daily basis and is the subject of our life at least 3 times a day. When we begin to fast, we become immediately uncomfortable, if not feeling tortured. However, no harm is being posed to the body, and the body naturally begins its survival routine. While this is happening, we begin to understand that our subconscious mind controls the body not to die based off the resources we are currently working with, no matter how little. If we pay attention, we will realize that our mind is now in control of the body. Secondly, the racing thoughts lack, fear, and fatigue may overcome you as our body to us, becomes the focus. But our body has always been the focus, since after 1 day of fasting it is now in distress and sending messages to other parts of ourselves as an SOS. After a few days you become more aware of this process and become desensitized to the pain, which is now perceived as a process. You realized you have not died and will not, because you are still in control. You are also controlling yourself FROM eating food; as opposed to your normal routine of constantly consuming foods. How is this Magic? The more your body seeps into this state of disconnecting from the physical needs, it then looks towards the mental and spiritual needs that we may have not attended to in a long time. The layer between the spirit and the physical becomes very thin, which now you can control. This is perfect for meditation, communication with spirits or the dead, and manifestation. The lightness of your body and the heavy control your mind has taken will propel you to wherever you want to be. Now that your focus has shifted from the physical, the metaphysical is in your favor. Magic Series: Episode 5- Food

How can food be magical? Just kidding, I think you may already know! Food can be magical in so many ways. Just like the herbs we used in rituals and the oils me create, food and the things we eat can invoke magical intentions. First decide on your intention, and decide WHO will be eating the food. If you are looking to strengthen love between family members, prepare a magical dinner for them, and yourself. Second, decide on the ingredients, of course. This is where knowledge of herbs and spices and fruits will come into play. Even for beginner cooks, start with simple things, and be mindful of allergies. It is well known that Cinnamon, Mint, and Rose Water all invoke feelings and energies of love and support. Then add in your favorite things and get creative with your intention. Thirdly, when mixing or stirring the ingredients, this is when you begin spell words, prayers, incantations, and your visualization ritual. The words spoken over the food before cooking will be absorbed. This can be done when trying to bring people together, but it also works when trying to create discord. Preparing food for an enemy is not uncommon, so keep that in mind when people bring food to your home, and they don't eat any of it; pay attention. This is one of the best ways to serve magic undercover. This works particularly well if you are a chef; so be nice to the chefs at the restaurants from now on. Because their energy is transmuted to your plate. Lastly, food divination, if you are preparing a meal for a boss or a partner put your most positive energy in the food, and if it comes out great, that foretells thing working out wonderfully. But if it burns, it tells of things falling apart sooner or later. Keep this food for thought! Magic Series: Episode 4- Tattoos

How can Tattoos be Magical? Well, tattoos are permanent ink markers on the body. These markers include colors, shapes, images, numbers, and sometimes sigils! Most of us know that written words, or pictorial hieroglyphs project power, meaning and energy. This is no different when choosing a tattoo, and again it is permanent so it will show forever. When we get a tattoo there is a specific message, or intention which are the first steps of a good magical spell. Second, you get really specific on WHERE the tattoo will be placed on your body, this is very important as this determines if this will be seen or hidden. This, is also another intention. So far we have made 3 steps into a powerful magical spell. Next, you will decide on colors. Some tattoos are basic black and outlined, and others are flamboyantly colorful. The color is an expression of how you feel or resonate with the message you are attempting to send. Tattoos are one the most powerful tool of resonance to a very indifferent, and cruel world. Lastly, your body is a powerful spiritual tool, or vessel for manifestation. Imprinting onto your body you are creating your world from the inside out. Especially, the events that lead up to your decision to get a tattoo in the first place. So, any tattoo ideas lately?
