Episode notes

There is an entire industry that profits from you never being sure. Not from things going wrong — just from the feeling that they might.

Think about the economics. A real crisis costs real money to fix. A warning costs nothing to send, and it's self-funding: you do the work, you feel the relief, you come back for more. The product is the uncertainty itself.

Which means the question to ask about any warning is simple: does the person sending it benefit from my calm or from my worry? Most systems are not built to reassure you into independence. They're built to keep you checking. That is the business model.

Once you see that, you stop asking whether the danger is real. You ask who decides.
