Justin Martyr stands before Trypho and argues from the Psalms that the crucified Christ is not merely a prophet but the very Lord who governed Moses, Aaron, and Samuel—and that He alone deserves worship. Augustine lingers over the memory of his friend Nebridius, now released from the body, now drinking from the very fountain of God himself—a portrait of what worship fulfilled looks like on the other side of death. And Aquinas asks something that cuts to the heart of Israel's story: was the Old Law good? And if it was, why wasn't it enough?
