NEWS No major overnight incidents — but this week, officers responded to a fight near Truxel Rd and San Juan Rd where one suspect was arrested with an illegally concealed firearm. Evidence of a shooting was also located near Watermist Way and Cancion St — no injuries reported. At Del Paso Blvd and Arden Way, an occupied stolen vehicle was recovered and the driver arrested. And in Central Sacramento, a cyclist fleeing a stop near North B St and Dos Rios St was detained on a probation violation warrant. [NEWS] A Sacramento jury has convicted Song Landis of first-degree murder in a 2022 shooting along the Marconi Avenue corridor. He faces up to 75 years to life. Sentencing is set for May 8th. In a separate case, 57-year-old Javier Arizmendi has been sentenced to 54 years to life for grooming and sexually assaulting a child he met on Xbox Live. [NEWS] Sacramento County Sheriff’s officials are warning the public following the early parole of David Allen Funston — convicted of kidnapping and molesting multiple young children. Funston, now 64, was serving more than 20 years plus three consecutive 25-to-life terms. [NEWS] Sacramento Police are investigating a fatal shooting Friday night in the 1500 block of West El Camino Avenue. An adult male later died at a nearby hospital. No suspect information has been released. Saturday night, four juveniles were arrested following a robbery at knifepoint in the 3000 block of Power Inn Road. And early Sunday morning, six people were injured in a Midtown hit-and-run crash near 20th and P Streets. Two victims suffered critical but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver fled on foot. [NEWS] One person was hospitalized with serious injuries after a vehicle went off the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard overpass and landed on northbound Highway 99 Thursday night, according to CHP. The crash caused several minor collisions. No other injuries were reported. All lanes are now open. The cause remains under investigation. In other developments— A 20-year-old man disarmed by an off-duty officer during an all-school Mass at St. Mary Parish School on Wednesday is now facing federal charges. Prosecutors say Brian Richard Girardot Jr. possessed a firearm within a school zone. Investigators also report finding additional ammunition in his vehicle and threatening handwritten notes at his home. The FBI and Sacramento Police continue to investigate. Roseville Police say search warrants at multiple homes uncovered cocaine, alprazolam pills, nearly eight pounds of marijuana, and packaging materials tied to drug sales. Officers also seized suppressors, short-barreled rifles, an illegal rifle, 3D-printed firearm parts, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. All four suspects were booked on drug- and weapons-related charges. The investigation is ongoing. [NEWS] Sacramento Police have arrested 31-year-old Brianna Butcher in connection with the death of 3-year-old Jeremiah Cash Carter, who was found with blunt-force trauma Thursday afternoon. The investigation remains ongoing. Officers also made a felony assault arrest around 3:29 a.m. at K Street and 9th Street after a woman allegedly swung a knife at a security guard. And in South Sacramento, a driver was arrested in the 3300 block of Fruitridge Road after officers located an occupied stolen vehicle and confirmed an active felony warrant. [NEWS] Sacramento police are investigating a suspicious death after a 3-year-old boy was found dead Thursday afternoon in the 3300 block of Douglas Street. The cause of death has not been released. The investigation is ongoing. In Mather, deputies responded to a domestic violence incident in the 4300 block of McRoberts Drive. The victim was safely located, and the armed suspect later surrendered and was taken into custody. Officers also responded to a disturbance around 12:25 a.m. in the 2700 block of Oakmont Street, where an illegally possessed loaded shotgun was found in a suspect’s trunk. An arrest was made.
