I Came Back to WoW. Something Unexpected Happened

What if escaping into a video game could actually make you more present in your real life? That might sound contradictory. We usually think of gaming as a way to switch off. To forget about responsibilities, slow down, and disappear into another world for a while. But something unexpected has happened since I started playing World of Warcraft again in hardcore mode. I feel more present. More patient. More attentive. More intentional. And I think a big part of that has to do with one simple rule: You only get one life.
