The Muscle Doesn't Know What the Dumbbell Weighs!
Do you actually need heavier dumbbells to keep growing? Louis breaks down the mind-muscle connection what it is, what the research really says, and where it stops working. You'll learn why the muscle cares more about effort than the number.
How Lean Is Too Lean? The Real Cost of Staying Shredded Year Round!
A client asked Louis how Instagram influencers stay shredded all year. The short answer: it's their job, many are on PEDs they won't admit to, and the sacrifices don't show up on camera. Louis and Brad cover both ends of the body fat scale. They lay out the ranges for men and women, from stage-lean to obese, and explain what happens at each extreme. Too lean costs you hormones, libido, recovery, joint comfort, mood, and your social life. Too much body fat, especially visceral fat around the organs, raises the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, fatty liver, and sleep apnea. They also cover the real upsides of being lean, including better insulin sensitivity and power-to-weight ratio.
A.I. Can Write You a Program. It Can't Coach You!
Everybody's asking AI for a workout plan now and some coaches, gyms, and apps are letting it write theirs and charging you for it. On this Friday deep-dive, Louis breaks down how gym-goers and coaches are actually using AI, what it genuinely does well, what the research says it gets wrong, and why he won't let it write a single one of his clients' programs. A follow-up to Wednesday's conversation with Brad with more detail, and higher standards. A tool, never the coach.
Personal Trainers vs. A.I.?
Louis and Brad discuss A.I. workouts & "programs" and why it still can't replace personal trainers!
How Long Should You Rest Between Sets?
Thirty seconds or five minutes? Both are right, it depends entirely on what you're trying to build. In five minutes, Louis walks through what the research says about rest periods for power, strength, muscle, and endurance, including the one recommendation on the classic chart that newer evidence has overturned. Short episode, clear answer, something you can use at your next session.
PEPTIDES: What “Made in the USA” Really Means!
Explicit
Peptides are everywhere, but do you actually know where they come from? In this episode, we dig into the peptide supply chain and the difference between a product being sold, tested, filled, or packaged in the United States and the actual peptide API being manufactured here. We break down why U.S. pharmaceutical companies rely heavily on foreign API manufacturing, the major countries behind peptide production, and why the country of origin doesn't necessarily determine quality. We also take a closer look at BPC-157, what the research actually shows, what we still don't know about human safety and effectiveness, and why “research use only,” “99% purity,” and “Made in the USA” don't necessarily mean what consumers think they mean. Finally, we tackle the bigger question: How much should FDA approval, or lack of approval, actually influence the way we evaluate risk? We compare the scrutiny surrounding experimental peptides with substances that have been legally permitted in the American food supply despite ongoing safety debates. No hype. No fear mongering. Just a deeper look at the science, the supply chain, and the questions you should be asking before believing what's on the label. Mindfulness Under Load
You have been told to feel the muscle working. It turns out that advice is right about a third of the time, and the rest of the time it is quietly making you weaker. In this one Louis breaks down what to actually put your attention on while the bar is moving, and it changes depending on what the set is for. You will get the four moments in a session where attention actually earns its keep, a green-yellow-red system for reading what your body is telling you mid-set, and a five-step check that takes less time than loading the bar. No meditation, no cushion, no clearing your mind. Just the difference between a set that builds you and a set that costs you.
You Have to Earn It!
Everybody wants the physique, the number on the scale, the health markers, the confidence. Almost nobody wants the eighteen months of boring Tuesdays it takes to get there. In this one Louis and Brad make the case that results aren't given to you, they're earned, and the price is paid in time you can't shortcut. We get into why the gym habit takes about six months to stick and not twenty-one days, why losing the weight is the easy half of the job, why the habits you use on day one are the exact same habits you'll use in year five, and what to actually do on the days you've earned nothing and don't feel like showing up. No hype, no gatekeeping, just an honest timeline. Special Shoutout to Leanne Green who wrote in with this topic!
Macros and Body Composition: The Right Answer for the Wrong Reasons!
A client sent Louis an article about the three things that changed her body composition more than any workout, macros, sleep and recovery. The conclusion's right. The reasoning underneath it is where it gets interesting. In this short solo episode: whether you can actually build muscle and lose fat at the same time and who that works for, three explanations you've heard your whole life that stopped being true a while ago, and the real numbers, including why your protein target goes up, not down, when you're dieting. Plus a pattern worth noticing about where wrong explanations tend to lead. No hype, no gatekeeping, just what works.
Everything We're Putting on the Floor (And Why) - PART 2
We get asked constantly what's actually going in the building. So this week we're walking the whole floor the racks, the bars, the machines that earned their spot, and the ones we passed on. But an equipment list is really a coaching philosophy in disguise, so we're explaining the reasoning behind every call: why the lightest bar in the building is 25 pounds, why a pendulum squat and a belt squat do genuinely different jobs, and why there's a video attached to every machine in the building. So sit back and enjoy Part 2 of no hype, no gatekeeping, just what we're building and why we're building it that way!
