Geek Down - I Care A Lot, Shook, Bleed Them Dry, Rescue Hero

Rosamund Pike was an absolute sicko in I Care A Lot, running a legal elder-extortion racket so cold it makes street hustlers look benevolent. We’re dissecting that sociopathic masterpiece as well as Bleed Them Dry, a sci-fi vampire saga that's beautifully brutal without wasting a single scene. Rescue Hero is that damn game you've been advertised on YouTube 90,000 times -- the less about it, the better. So naturally we're going to talk about it AT LENGTH! To finish the run, Shook puts a mirror right up to clout-obsessed internet kids, delivering a tense look at fear, fame, and the cost of being watched. Three reviews, three very different kinds of pressure—bring your receipts and judge accordingly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you liked this episode and want to help us make more in the future, we'd be hella grateful for a small donation via this link https://www.buymeacoffee.com/villainswtf (no pressure of course - we'll be making the best content we can regardless) 🤘 Become a patron too for longer format episodes, bonus shows, and more! https://www.patreon.com/cw/VillainsWTF And all our sister shows @ https://www.villains.wtf

Geek Down - Apollo 10½, Slow Horses, War of the Worlds Annihilation

Apollo 10½ refuses to apologize for being sentimental about a history none of us technically lived through. Slow Horses has Gary Oldman as the grimiest boss in British intelligence and the writing is surgical. War of the Worlds Annihilation is bargain-bin alien chaos with zero patience for slow build-up

Geek Down - Fear Street pt.1 1994, Blade Runner 2029, Tomorrow War, America Motion Picture.mp4

Four titles, four very different conversations, and we're getting into all of them. Fear Street Part One: 1994 leans all the way into that slasher energy with a needle drop budget that had to hurt somebody's pockets. Speaking of being hurt -- the KILLS in this mother are genuinely mean! Blade Runner 2029 keeps Ash in the middle when the $#!& gets thick. Bonus: the book actually respects the source material rather than just borrowing the look. The Tomorrow War is a big loud time-travel bug hunt, and we gotta talk about the third act because the writers for damn sure didn't. Then America: The Motion Picture comes in swinging with a "Declaration of Independence" branded chainsaw and absolutely zero shame. Flowers where they're earned, smoke where it's deserved.

Geek down - Hocus Pocus 2, Do Revenge, Batman & Superman Battle of the Super Sons

Hocus Pocus 2 brings the Sanderson sisters back with all the camp intact, and we gotta discuss whether nostalgia is doing the heavy lifting or if this thing actually stands on its own. Do Revenge is nasty in the best way, all pastel outfits and venom, and the leads understood the assignment. Then Battle of the Super Sons shows up with that anime-adjacent animation style, and we have thoughts about Jon and Damian carrying the torch.

Geek Down - Falcon and Winter Soldier, War Tortoise 2, We Only Find Them When They're Dead

Al Ewing’s We Only Find Them When They’re Dead turns cosmic grave-robbing into a gorgeous, cold-blooded meditation on ambition; The Falcon and the Winter Soldier brings the shields, trauma, and government mess with plenty to unpack; and War Tortoise 2 proves a heavily armed turtle can carry an entire game on its shell. Bonus: it actually lets you play instead of begging for your credit card. Big ideas, bigger explosions!

Geek Down - Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Golden Kamui, Firefly The Fall Guys

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the strongest entry in the new series. Fight me. And Proximus Caesar is the best villain we could have asked for (and yes, you will leave the theatre having complicated feelings about an ape). Firefly: The Fall Guys isn't the sad cynical cash grab you assumed it would be (come clean, you totally did). It is the actual, proper second season of Firefly that we been begging for for 22 years! And written by people who actually like and understand the show, instead of the suckas who just own the rights to it. Not to be outshined, Golden Kamui is the one of the best action movies we've seen. Like, EVER! Listen in and find out why... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you liked this episode and want to help us make more in the future, we'd be hella grateful for a small donation via this link https://www.buymeacoffee.com/villainswtf (no pressure of course - we'll be making the best content we can regardless) 🤘 Become a patron too for longer format episodes, bonus shows, and more! https://www.patreon.com/cw/VillainsWTF And all our sister shows @ https://www.villains.wtf

Geek Down - Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, The Outfit, The Last Bus, Guardians of Justice

Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is Nicolas Cage at his most unhinged, playing a version of himself so meta it’s either genius or a cry for help. The Outfit is a quiet, razor-sharp crime drama that sneaks up on you. The Last Bus is way more fun than it has any right to be - a UK sci-fi gem that’s basically Stranger Things meets Attack the Block. And then there’s Guardians of Justice—this wild, chaotic superhero mess made by a guy who had one too many energy drinks . . . allegedly. We’re breaking down what worked, what didn’t, and what the F#$% --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you liked this episode and want to help us make more in the future, we'd be hella grateful for a small donation via this link https://www.buymeacoffee.com/villainswtf (no pressure of course - we'll be making the best content we can regardless) 🤘 Become a patron too for longer format episodes, bonus shows, and more! https://www.patreon.com/cw/VillainsWTF And all our sister shows @ https://www.villains.wtf

Geek Down - Invincible, Happy Hour, Shadow Hunter Lost World

Shadow Hunter: Lost World is the dumbest most perfect game ever made. No critic will admit it, you will open it to knock out your five minute dailies and look up and two and a half hours are gone. You press one button, demons explode, there is no deeper point and that is exactly why it is better than every seventy dollar AAA game that dropped this year. The new season of Invincible is not mid. Every hot take you saw on Twitter is cap. This is the only superhero media made in the last decade that understands all powerful people would just be extremely broken, extremely petty assholes, and if you complain about the gore this was never made for you anyway. Happy Hour from Ahoy Comics is the best comic absolutely none of you are talking about. It takes place in a dystopia where being sad is a felony, it is equal parts vicious and deeply silly, and it will make you sit quiet for ten minutes afterwards going oh my god that's me.

Geek Down - Chu, The White Tiger, Zombie Hunter D-Day

We got three things this week that everybody has the exact wrong take on, so let's sort this out right now. The White Tiger is not the cute little Oscar bait class commentary every outlet tried to frame it as, it is a deeply mean, deeply correct movie that will make you sit dead quiet on your couch for 15 minutes after the credits end wondering if you would also do every single horrible thing the main character does if you got half the chance, and that makes it the best thing Netflix has put out in almost two years. Zombie Hunter D-Day is dogshit on paper, every major game reviewer called it trash, and every single one of those people is lying to you. It is exactly what it says it is. You point a gun at zombies and you blow them apart. There is no subtext. There is no lore. There is not even a good reload animation. And it is more fun than every single 70 dollar AAA game that dropped this entire quarter. Nobody needs more than that. Chu is the best comic nobody is talking about right now. It follows a guy who gets psychic visions from anything he eats, he has eaten roadkill, a half eaten gas station donut, and one time an entire discarded cigarette to solve a murder, it is equal parts disgusting and hilarious and every single one of you would like it more than any superhero thing you have consumed in the last three years.

Geek Down - The Mandalorian, 6 Underground, Scratcher

Look, everybody has been dancing around these three points and we are the only ones that will actually say it out loud: 6 Underground is the dumbest movie ever made, It is also one of the most rewatchable movies ever made Both of those things can be true at the exact same time, and none of you cowards will admit it. The latest season of The Mandalorian is not bad, it is disrespectful. They took the single most beloved thing Disney had going for it and turned it into an 8 episode commercial for twelve other shows nobody asked for, and every other reviewer is still giving it a pass out of pure nostalgia. And while we are handing out uncompensated flowers, Scratcher is the best horror comic that has come out in the last three years, and it is absolutely criminal that zero major outlets have even mentioned it. We do not get checks from any of these people. We do not care who gets mad. We are going to rank all three, argue about it for forty five minutes, and at least one person might get up and walk away from the table halfway through the conversation.
