The Comeback with Peter Herweg

The Come Back Code™ | Pilot Episode Welcome to the very first episode of The Come Back . I’m Peter Herweg, and this isn’t just another podcast about addiction. It’s about what happens after life falls apart… and the courage it takes to build it again. If you’ve ever battled addiction, watched someone you love disappear into it, or wondered whether a comeback is even possible, this journey is for you. In this pilot episode, I share why The Come Back Code was born, the lessons my own recovery has taught me, and why healing isn’t about pretending the past never happened—it’s about refusing to let it define your future. Together, we’ll have honest conversations about addiction, recovery, relapse, resilience, mental health, purpose, and rebuilding a life worth living. There will be no masks, no false promises, and no perfect people—just real stories, practical hope, and proof that a setback does not have to become your final chapter. Whether you’re taking your first step, finding your way back after a relapse, supporting someone you love, or simply searching for hope, you’re welcome here. Your comeback starts with one decision. Welcome to The Come Back Code.

The Alcohol I Hid From My Wife.

Explicit
I thought I was hiding my alcohol from my wife. I was too drunk to notice her watching me hide it. She told me afterwards. She knew. In this episode of The Come Back Code, I share a part of my drinking that is uncomfortable to admit: the hiding, the secrecy, and believing I was getting away with something that was happening right in front of her. There’s an absurdity to that memory now. But there’s also a difficult question: what did my wife see that I wasn’t willing to see in myself? If you’ve ever hidden your drinking—or watched someone you love try to hide theirs—this conversation may feel familiar. I’m Peter Herweg. This happened in my life. And it belongs in the honest conversation about my recovery. Listen to The Come Back Code with Peter Herweg.

How Do I Forgive Myself For Who I Was When Life Got Heavy.

Are you still punishing yourself for who you were when life got heavy? The things you said. The people you pushed away. The choices you wish you could take back. Sometimes the hardest part of moving forward is believing you deserve to. In this episode of The Come Back Code with Peter Herweg, I talk about forgiving yourself during and after a difficult season, especially when you are still living with the consequences. We explore: • Understanding what you were carrying when you weren’t coping. • Taking responsibility without turning every mistake into a permanent judgement of who you are. • Facing regret, making amends where possible, and accepting that rebuilding trust takes time. • Giving yourself permission to begin again, even when other people aren’t ready to forgive you. • Learning to respect yourself through the small choices you make today. Forgiving yourself does not erase what happened or excuse the hurt. It means accepting responsibility while allowing yourself the opportunity to live differently. Whether you are rebuilding after addiction, loss, burnout or a season you struggle to explain, this conversation is for the person who keeps thinking, “I should have handled it better.” You can wish you had done things differently and still treat yourself with compassion today. You do not have to keep hating yourself to prove that you regret what happened. Listen, follow The Come Back Code with Peter Herweg, and share this episode with someone who is finding it difficult to forgive themselves. Your past deserves honesty. Your future deserves a chance.
