The church of Philadelphia is identified as the second witness in Revelation 14, alongside Smyrna. Both churches are promised a crown and face persecution from the “synagogue of Satan.” Philadelphia is specifically promised protection from the “hour of trial” and is described as the 144,000 redeemed from the earth, offered as first fruits to God and the Lamb.
