The Self of the Wellness Professional: Transference and Countertransference
In this week's episode, we continue our discussion on the self of the wellness professional by exploring the concepts of transference and countertransference within the wellness relationship. We discuss how clients may unconsciously relate to professionals though the lens of their own personal experiences and how wellness professionals may also find themselves emotionally impacted when a client's story mirrors their own. When "the client's story is your story," it can create powerful moments of connection, reflection, and challenge within the session. We will explore how to recognize signs of transference and countertransference, the importance of self-awareness within the helping profession, and how professionals can ethically navigate these experiences while maintaining healthy therapeutic boundaries. We also discuss the critical role boundaries play in creating a safe, supportive, and effective wellness relationship for both the client and the professional. Always make room for wellness!
Mother's Day

Self of the Therapist
In today's episode we will turn the focus inward - exploring the well-being of the wellness professional. Caring for others requires intention, awareness, and a commitment to caring for ourselves, too. We dive into the importance of self-care, the tools professionals use to maintain their own mental and emotional health. We have honest conversation about recognizing when a client's needs extend beyond our scope and the importance of making appropriate referrals to ensure the best care possible. Continuing education is another key focus, as we highlight how ongoing learning strengthens both professional growth and client outcomes. Finally, we explore the power of acknowledging our own limitations - not as weaknesses, but as essential components of ethical, compassionate, and effective practice. This episode is a reminder that in order to show up fully for others, we must first take care of ourselves. Remember to always make room for wellness!

We will explore ways to help one frame loss and how they may create a new identity. We discuss how to help those who are grieving, find support, acceptance, and meaning.
Collective Grief
Listen in as we begin our series on grief. Our first conversation focuses on collective grief. We describe collective grief, what defines collective grief which may include a pandemic, mass violence, cultural identity loss, natural disasters, loss of a public figure, war or terrorism. We discuss how collective grief shows up, how people may experience and deal with collective grief, the roles of the community and/or clinicians working with those who are coping. Collective grief reminds us that loss is not always experienced individually - sometimes entire communities mourn together, and the path to healing often involves connection, shared rituals, and collective meaning making.
