Episode notes

“Some people may have an issue that this is giving up an aspect of femininity to fit into the man’s context. I don’t see that as what I’m doing. I am trying to identify parts of femininity that I was conditioned into and are keeping me from my goal. I try not to frame my beliefs or actions in the context of others, but on what is authentic to me. I have maybe never called myself a feminist to anyone, but I try to embody the spirit of feminine progress.”

In this final part of my conversation with geologist Alicia Downard, we are talking about gender roles. We begin with discussing how Alicia has a bit of a boyish energy in her body language and speech. Then we talk about feminism, patriarchy, gender roles, and self-empowerment in her romantic relationships, work and life.
