What Is NeuroAwareness? Understanding Your Brain and Nervous System After Grief, Loss & Trauma.

Today we're talking about something that I think every woman navigating grief, loss, trauma or a major life transition needs to understand. And that is NeuroAwareness. Now, I know the word sounds a little bit techy. Possibly like something involving a white coat, a clipboard and somebody peering through some 19th Century odd looking glass saying, "Let's examine your neural pathways." But stay with me. Because NeuroAwareness is actually about something incredibly practical and helpful.

Who Am I Now? The Identity Crisis Nobody Warns Women About After 50.

Have you ever looked at your life and thought - “Who the bloody hell am I now?” Not in a dramatic, I've completely lost the plot kind of way. Although, let's be honest, there’s been a fair amount of that too. I'm talking about something much deeper. That strange feeling that the woman you were before a major life shift doesn't quite exist anymore. And perhaps the really uncomfortable question is, If I'm not her anymore, then who exactly am I?

I’m Not Okay – When Those Words Tell A Much Bigger Story.

Today, I want to have a very honest conversation with you. Because today, quite simply - I'm not okay. And I think sometimes we need to say those words out loud. Not package them up in something pretty. Not follow them with, “But I'll be fine.” Not immediately reassure everyone around us that we're okay. Sometimes we just need to say, I'm not okay. Because there is so much hiding behind those three little words.

Solitude, Loneliness and Knowing the Difference.

On today’s episode, I discuss the differences between being alone and loneliness. And yes, it’s important to know that difference for your own mental wellness.

When Your Nervous System Is Stuck in Survival Mode and How You Know You're Healing

On today’s episode, we're talking about something that has become a very real part of my own life over these past few months’. My nervous system. More specifically, what happens when your nervous system gets stuck in survival mode after trauma, stress, grief or loss. And, perhaps more importantly, how the bloody hell do you know when you're actually starting to heal?

Confronting Grief & Loss Head On!

On today’s episode, we confront grief and loss head on. It will be uncomfortable but together, we’re going to unpack it and get down to the nitty gritty of real growth work. Bring your pen and paper - I have some questions worthy of consideration.

Why This Phase Of Life Feels So Bloody Uncomfortable

Today we're talking about something I wish someone had warned me about years ago. Not menopause. Not wrinkles. Not your knees making strange little noises every time you stand up. Although, honestly - yuck, right? No. I'm talking about why your 50s can feel so incredibly uncomfortable.

Stacked Loss

Welcome back to the Rebuild. Reinvent and Rise Podcast. I am Fiona J Lindsay your Host. Thanks for joining me. In today’s episode I’m discussing stacked loss. I see what nobody else is naming. Women in their 50s are often carrying stacked loss. Not one loss. Multiple. At the same time.

Introduction

Welcome to the Rebuild. Reinvent and Rise Podcast. Hi I’m Fiona J Lindsay. When Life Changes You Nobody warns women in their 50s how much loss can arrive all at once. One day you’re managing your career, your kids, ageing parents, relationships and expectations and then suddenly life shifts. The marriage ends. Kids move out. You lose a parent. Health challenges. Career transition. And in my case, a bushfire blazes through and wipes out almost everything I spent decades building. Then the version of you that held everything together suddenly feels confusing and unfamiliar. And somewhere in all of that, you quietly wonder: Who am I now?” This Podcast exists to have a conversation about the invisible grief women carry. The grief of: losing identity losing certainty losing relationships losing confidence losing purpose losing health losing the life and freedom they imagined at this phase of life Loss doesn’t always look like death. Sometimes it can show up dressed as change and /or a traumatic event. I know what rebuilding feels like. I know what it feels like when life cracks open what you thought was stable. I’ve been through divorce. I have one kid still at home – the other moved out rather unelegantly. I lost a parent last year. The other has BiPolar and Dementia. My closest friend of 40 years’ was diagnosed with breast cancer back in April. Another close friend lost her husband suddenly a year ago. I walked away from a lucrative business. And in January, I survived a Bushfire and I am still rebuilding – both myself and my property. I know what loss looks like. I know what grief feels like. And I know what it is to sit with trauma and anxiety. I’m going to talk about: REBUILDING healing after divorce grief and identity loss burnout mental wellness (you will notice this will be a central theme) resilience after major life change and Trauma REINVENTION rediscovering confidence purpose after parenting shifts career transitions building a business after 50 finding yourself again and RISING thriving after heartbreak emotional wellbeing boundaries courage and strength you never knew you had building a life that feels more aligned and meaningful If life has changed you in ways you didn’t anticipate, if you’re grieving who you were while wondering who you’re becoming, welcome. You don’t have to rebuild alone. Thanks for listening. This is the Rebuild, Reinvent and Rise Podcast with me Fiona J Lindsay. Join me next episode as I discuss stacked loss. And remember beautiful, bold and sassy woman... life may have knocked the wind out of you, but it hasn't taken away your power. I'll see you in the next episode.
