Much Comfort
We share in the many sufferings of Christ. In the same way, much comfort comes to us through Christ.
2 CORINTHIANS 1:5 NC
Life is full of beauty and hope and promise. But life also carries with it ugliness, pain, and disappointment. If you haven't suffered, you haven't lived. It's just the way of things.
You can put on the bravest of faces and walk straight through the pain, but the reality is that even the strongest need a place to let down their guard, to cry, to hurt, to feel, and to be comforted.
Our God isn't lofty or distant from us. He lived life as we do on this earth and he felt the same pain. There is no better comforter than someone who has been exactly where you are, enduring the same suffering.
Christ is our comfort. When we have trouble and sorrow, he is our consolation. He brings us to himself and he holds us; he hears us. Pour your heart out to him, your joys and your sorrows.
Lord Jesus, I know that when I run to you in my suffering your comfort will go further and heal me faster than any other comforter.
I need you to be my safe place. When I am hurting, remind me to run to you first before l go to anyone or anything else.
