Blessing Before the Watching World
How great is the goodness
you have stored up for those who fear you.
You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.
PSALM 31:19 NLT
Have you ever looked at someone and noticed that the blessing of God is on their life in a remarkable way?
Maybe they've received a clear miracle, or they have been inexplicably successful in their endeavors.
Maybe they have an unearthly joy that flows out contagiously. No matter what the evidence is, you know without a doubt that the hand of God is on them.
Many times when we first come to God, we come for protection-seeking salvation and security-and he gives us those things, but he doesn't stop there. He also gives us his goodness, his kindness, his love.
And once we begin to receive the goodness of such a great God, the world takes notice.
Thank you, God, that you lavish your goodness on me. I came to you out of gratitude for what your Son did for me.
I came to you for protection from death and for eternal life. But you gave me so much more than that. You gave me your goodness.
You gave me your blessings. Let the world take notice; and let them glorify you because of it.
