Today’s reading begins a new journey in Hosea 1, where God gives His people a living picture of His wounded love. Hosea is called to marry Gomer, and their broken marriage becomes a prophetic sign of Israel’s spiritual adultery. God’s people had chased after other gods, broken covenant, and wandered from the One who loved them.
Yet even in a chapter full of judgment, the mercy of God still breaks through. The names of Hosea’s children warn of coming judgment, lost mercy, and broken identity—but the chapter ends with restoration, forgiveness, and hope. So today, read Hosea 1 and remember: even when God’s people run after lesser loves, His covenant love is still strong enough to restore what sin has shattered.
