Episode notes

In this episode of Punk Rock Creatives, things get a little closer to home as Marie sits down with her own band, Marie & the Meltdownz, for a chat about music, gigs, touring and all the chaos that comes with being in a band together.

We talk about touring, the places we've never played but would love to take the Meltdownz to, and what life on the road together might actually look like — including who would survive on tour and, perhaps more importantly, which member of the band would have the best chance of surviving a zombie apocalypse (we conclude that everyone should be asked this question).

There's plenty of gig talk too, including fights at shows, the strange things that can happen when you put a load of people in a room with loud music, and our shared love and appreciation for the people who can make or break your night: sound engineers. Good sound engineers really are the unsung heroes of live music, and we give them some much-deserved appreciation.

We get into some of the music we love along the way, including Thin Lizzy — and, of course, Phil Lynott 😎 — Papa Roach, Amen, and Madonna, as well as talking about the different influences and tastes we all bring to the band.

We also chat about being shy while simultaneously choosing to get up on stage in front of people, what we're actually like together as a band, playing live, where we'd like to take Marie & the Meltdownz next, and the reality of making music together.
