Divorce is a painful and complex end to a relationship, but it can be incredibly challenging if your immigration status is in the middle of it. When you obtain a green card through marriage, it might be a 2-year conditional green card, and in order to lift the conditions after two years, you need to prove that you and your partner are still married (Form I-751). Therefore, divorce, when you hold a conditional green card, can cause issues BUT IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. If your relationship is not going how it is supposed to, this is the episode for you.
