Episode notes

What happens when Christian community becomes Christian isolation?

Deep community is good. We need believers who know us, carry burdens with us, help raise our families, and remind us what is true.

But Jesus never told His Church to seal the doors and wait for Him to return.

In this Extra Shot of Grace in the Grind, Cody Hudson looks at the difference between being a pilgrim and becoming an escapist—and why the Church should function more like a base camp than a bunker.

We’ll talk about:

• When protection quietly becomes avoidance • Why holiness does not require isolation • What John 17 says about being sent into the world • How culture war can replace actual discipleship • Why truth must never become ammunition for hatred • Why politics cannot carry the weight of salvation • The danger of expecting the world to act like the Church • Why heavenly citizenship should produce earthly faithfulness • How Christian community should strengthen us to go back out • What courageous, truthful, loving presence looks like

A bunker says:

“The world is dangerous. Stay inside.”

A base camp says:

“The mission is difficult. Don’t go alone.”

Christians do not need to compromise in order to love people.

And we do not need to become hostile in order to tell the truth.

Biblical courage can look someone in the eye, listen, love them, and still refuse to call good what God calls wrong.

No hatred.

No panic.

No compromise.

We are pilgrims.

That means this world is not our final home.

But it does not mean we abandon the people God has placed around us.

Build deep Christian community.

Just don’t let that community become so complete that everyone outside it becomes theoretical.

The Church should make us strong enough to go toward people—not comfortable enough to forget them.
