This Monday on Ghosts of the Gazette: come on down to 1912! Kendra tells the tragic story of Candace Wheeler, whose drowning death became entangled in a bitter family feud. At the center is her famous father, author James Cooper Wheeler, who was the son of the famous Candace Thurber Wheeler, whose relentless battle against Candace's fiancé, Otto Meyer, and his brother over wills and estates would ultimately lead to a shocking downfall of his own. Blake explores the baffling disappearance of young nurse Dorcas Snodgrass, who vanished after passing through New York's Grand Central Station. Days later, she was found in Dubois Creek in New York's Catskill Mountains—but how she got there, and what really happened, remains a mystery more than a century later. Kendra shares the shocking story of Edward Leon “Pete” Williams, whose violent crime spree began in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and led to the tragic murder of young pastor Tommy Robert Cooke after stealing his car. Blake heads to California, where the mysterious “Friday Afternoon Bandit”—later identified as William Liebscher—kept San Francisco-area banks on edge as he repeatedly struck and slipped away, until investigators finally caught up with him.
