We have a special new episode to kick off the spooky season, here we take on the challenge of convincing one of our hosts why they are wrong in hating horror films. Listen to us discuss classics like The Ring, Cabin in the Woods, Shaun of the Dead, and a new contemporary classic The Substance. We break down why these films grip our minds and hopefully we can convince all horror haters why they're wrong. Contact: Email: fourguysonefilm@gmail.com Letterboxd & TikTok: fourguysonefilm
In this episode we review and discuss, "Starship Troopers" directed by Paul Verhoeven. During its time it was under-appreciated, as the satirical undertones or overtones went above everybody's heads. At face value this was a simple science fiction film about fighting alien bugs. Instead, it was about the horrors of war and government lies. Just a warning, we get into some political topics but we also discuss some of our ideas on the history of war in the USA. In this episode we review and discuss, "Godzilla Minus One" directed by Takashi Yamazaki. This marks the latest Japanese Godzilla film and also a return to the true form of Godzilla. A surprise hit at the time but also a monumental success for Toho and Japan. Listen as we breakdown our thoughts on this incredible film! Kung Fu Hustle, directed by and starring Stephen Chow, its an equal mix of comedy and Chinese martial arts. This film is considered one of the best in its genre and also one of the best films to come out of Chinese cinema. Despite paying homage to many western films, it is still able to stand on its own, and within us it's one of our favorite wuxia films to watch. Check out our thoughts on this film and let us know what you think! Contact: Email: fourguysonefilm@gmail.com Letterboxd & TikTok: fourguysonefilm
In this episode we watch David Lynch's "Blue Velvet" (1986), our second Lynch film and our most divisive discussion yet. A film considered one of the greatest of all time and which also laid the groundwork for Lynch's masterpieces that were to come later. Listen as we discuss our opinions on this highly controversial film. Contact: Email: fourguysonefilm@gmail.com Letterboxd & TikTok: fourguysonefilm
In this episode we watch Dev Patel's directorial debut in his film "Monkey Man" (2024). One of the more interesting action films of the year so far, one could say it's a mix of John Wick, The Raid, and Oldboy. Here we discuss our first impressions of the movie and how this film stands up against the films it stands on the shoulders of. Check out our review and let us know what you think! In this episode we watched and discussed The Day After Tomorrow (2004) directed by Roland Emmerich. Not only do we talk about this film but we get into heavy discussion on the many types of natural disasters to survive and Taylor Swift's effect on our climate. We definitely get off topic on this one but listen ahead and hopefully you're able to get a laugh out of this. Check out our review and let us know what you think! Isaac's Pick of the week is "The Devil Wears Prada"! One of his all time favorites so we came together to give this film an honest review. Who doesn't love Anne Hathaway or Meryl Streep? This is strangely a little time capsule of 2007, however whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to you. Check out our review and let us know what you think!
