Episode notes

What if the reason you’re struggling to get more clients has nothing to do with your followers… and everything to do with connection?

In this episode, I pulled back the curtain on one of the most important shifts I’ve learned about marketing, visibility, and client attraction after years of working with women entrepreneurs.

Because the truth is:

You do not need a massive audience to grow your business.

You need meaningful conversations.

If you’ve ever wondered why your content isn’t converting into clients, this episode may completely shift the way you approach marketing.

So many women entrepreneurs think they need:

  • bigger audiences
  • more content
  • more visibility
  • more social media

But what actually creates clients, speaking opportunities, and aligned growth is intimacy, connection, and genuine conversation.

The Beginning of My DEVESA Marketing System

This episode focused on the “D” in my framework:

D = Direct Message

If you want clients, opportunities, collaborations, or speaking engagements, start with direct connection.

I encouraged everyone to make a simple list of people they could reach out to:

  • past clients
  • current clients
  • dream clients
  • community members
  • event hosts
  • people already engaging with your content

Even reaching out to 3–5 people can create momentum.

Don’t Lead With Selling

One of the biggest mistakes people make is opening with a sales pitch.

Instead of:

  • “Buy my thing.”
  • “Join my program.”

I encouraged everyone to simply connect first.

Examples:

  • “Hey, I was thinking about you.”
  • “How are things going lately?”
  • “I saw your post and wanted to check in.”

Real connection creates trust.

Follow-Up Matters

Another important reminder from this episode:

Most people need multiple touch points before they’re ready to say yes.

That means:

  • follow up
  • stay connected
  • continue the conversation
  • don’t assume silence means rejection

Consistency matters.

Ask Before You Invite

Once connection is established, the next step is simple:

Ask.

Examples:

  • “Would you like the link?”
  • “Would you like support with that?”
  • “Would you like more information?”

This creates aligned, pressure-free marketing that feels human instead of pushy.

The Biggest Lesson

Simple human connection still works.

People want to feel:

  • seen
  • heard
  • valued
  • understood

And often, one meaningful conversation can create more momentum than months of trying to “grow your audience.”

Favorite Quotes From This Episode

  • “Connection leads to clients.”
  • “People don’t know there’s a party unless you invite them.”
  • “Follow up forever.”
  • “Simple works.”
