Episode notes
In this episode, I sit down with Jon Lehman for an in-depth conversation about family, tradition, and the powerful connection that forms when life is lived outdoors.
Jon shares meaningful stories about mentoring his young sons in the outdoors, including the emotional and unforgettable experience of watching his son take his first big game harvest—a whitetail deer taken this past season. We discuss what that moment truly represents: responsibility, respect for wildlife, and the passing of hard-earned knowledge from one generation to the next.
The conversation also turns to a challenging elk hunting season that tested both patience and perseverance, and how setbacks in the field often become our greatest teachers. Jon reflects on the lessons learned and the drive that keeps him returning to the elk woods year after year.
One of the highlights of this episode is Jon’s account of building a log cabin deep in the remote wilderness with a group of close friends. This ambitious project became a gateway into reviving the lost art of trapping, reconnecting with self-reliance, and rediscovering what it truly means to live simply and intentionally in wild places.
