We Don't Need Thoughts & Prayers, We Need Rules & Regulations

Explicit
Trigger Warning: Gun Violence, Child death, Racism Today on The (Dam)n Podcast, your co-hosts Dayna and Mikayla sat down to discuss gun violence in America. On May 24, 2022, a mass shooting took place at at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas where nineteen students and two teachers were killed, and seventeen others were wounded. On May 14, 2022, a mass shooting occurred in Buffalo, New York, United States, at a Tops Friendly Markets store, a supermarket in the East Side neighborhood. Ten black people were killed and three other people were injured. Our bodies are not designed to absorb and process this much violence, loss, and grief. We do not want to hear about thoughts or prayers or bible verses or whatever the fuck from people holding political office. Their job as a public servant is to pass legislation and right now they are failing. These lawmakers need to get the fuck off their ass and pass some fucking laws. Here at the (Dam)n Podcast, we urge you to call your legislator (whether they're affiliated with the NRA or not) to let them know just how important gun-control is to you. Everytown for Gun Safety makes the whole process pretty easy with a form on their website which automatically finds the appropriate number for you to call in Congress. (we have linked Everytown below.) Our hearts are with all of those impacted by these tragic mass shootings, BIPOC + LGBTQ communities that are disproportionately targeted, and everyone who continues to live in fear of living their daily lives because no movie theater, grocery store, church, mall, concert, or school is safe. With all that being said, grab a glass a wine, and settle in for a serious discussion, because shit is just getting started. SHOW NOTES: We need GUN CONTROL NOW!! Check out the Official (Dam)n Podcast links below. We have. linked Nonprofit Organizations that are working to END GUN VIOLENCE. We have also linked as many GoFundMe links to support the families' of the victims lost in both the Robb Elementary School shooting and Tops Friendly Markets store shooting in Buffalo. https://koji.to/Damnpodcastofficial MAKE SURE THAT YOU DONATE! No Uterus, No Opinion. Let’s Chat: Roe v. Wade

Explicit
Today on The (Dam)n Podcast, your co-hosts Dayna and Mikayla sat down with Emmana Jules to discuss all things Roe v. Wade. In 1973, Roe v. Wade established a woman's right to have an abortion without undue restrictive interference from the government. Now in 2022, the Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Alito and obtained by POLITICO. If the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, 26 states are certain or likely to ban abortion. Restrictions and bans on abortion access is a direct violation of basic human rights and reproductive freedom. Bans on abortion will not prevent all abortions. Rather, safe and necessary medical care will no longer be accessible, specifically for our lowest-income sisters, queer, trans, and non-binary siblings, Black, brown, AAIP, and Indigenous people. Overturning Roe v. Wade disproportionally harms those who already face systemic barriers to health care, including BIPOC, women, young people, those working to make ends meet, people with disabilities, immigrants, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. So, with that being said grab a glass a wine and settle in because shit is just getting started! MAKE SURE THAT YOU DONATE! SHARE! EDUCATE YOURSELF AND OTHERS! VOTE!
