Our Recommendation for Attainable U.S. Currency Type Set

Originally published 10/31/24 to YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@polarcurrency The Currency Roundtable has put together a recommendation for an Attainable U.S. Currency Type Set list. The link to the list is below and is a Google Sheets document that is read only. The list also includes Small Size U.S. and Fractional banknotes. The Roundtable discusses what aspects should or should not or could or could not be part of the list. This includes different Treasury Seals, overprints, minor plate changes or different reverses. There are times when we agree to disagree and move on. The Large Size list uses a max price of $3,000 which is a lot of money but most of the notes are valued from $200 - $1,000 because of the grades being used, which are lower VG 8. The list hopefully provides a good starting point. Questions From Viewers But Do We Have Answers?

This wraps up the first year of the Currency Roundtable with episode #12. Can't believe we've been able to knock out 12! Many thanks to the panelist who have donated their time and knowledge to promote the hobby of paper money collecting. In this episode we answer questions that were submitted to us via comments on promos we did on our channels. There are some great questions and answers but we did get stumped a few times. We didn't get through all the questions but part 2 is coming in later January!

Currency Roundtable #13 (12-A) is Part II of Q & A

What we know now and our biggest collecting mistakes.

Currency Roundtable #14 dives into the “mistakes” we have made while collecting paper money. We answer two questions: 1) Knowing what you know now what would you change about your currency collection? And 2) What was your biggest collecting mistake? Many thanks to the panelist who have donated their time and knowledge to promote the hobby of paper money collecting.

Currency Roundtable 15

The Currency Roundtable Panel goes into what we individually collect and why for video #15. Before that we start out responding to a viewer question about how does EPQ/PPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality for PMG and Premium Paper Quality for PCGS Bank Note) affect the market prices and if we think it’s important to collect EPQ/PPQ. At the end we have a short discussion on what U.S. Large Size National Bank Notes should be called. Within the “Nationals” collector community there is a movement to “correct” a wrong regarding using the term First, Second and Third Charter Period terms.

Currency Roundtable #16 ((( LIVE ))) For The 1st Time! (Oct 14 2025)

Explicit
The Roundtable is live for the fist time! With Special guest Dr. Wise and we're talking "What is a collector"? and do we have a problem? A lot of other topics and answering questions and comments. Welcome new panelist Big Apple!!!

Currency Roundtable #17 Keeping the Passion (Dec 14 2025)

This video was recorded ((LIVE)) and then replaced with this recording. We received an email from a viewer that states that he's losing the passion of collecting currency. We'll address what can be done ie. change direction, new category, focus, specialize. But with a WARNING for changing categories - be careful about collecting Errors, Fancy Serial Numbers, Counterfeits, Obsoletes, Confederates, World Banknotes, Private Company “Commemoratives”. These are all niche parts of currency collecting and there isn't as much information.
